Senior SAP P2P Consultant
Work Authorization: (independent visa)
Location: Hybrid – Washington DC – 10% Travel required – Expenses paid when travelling.
Role Overview
Lead assessment, process redesign, and standardization of the end-to-end P2P cycle within a post-brownfield S/4HANA on-premise environment. The ideal candidate brings deep SAP MM/AP expertise and experience with complex procurement, multi-currency transactions, vendor management, and compliance-driven approval processes. This individual will assess existing configuration and custom enhancements, lead transformation workshops, and partner with technical teams to transition custom processes to standard S/4HANA capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
Assess end-to-end P2P process from purchase requisition and purchase order through goods receipt, invoice verification (MIRO/MIR7), and payment, identifying opportunities to replace custom solutions with S/4HANA standard functionality
Lead transformation workshops with procurement, AP, treasury, and compliance stakeholders to document current processes and design streamlined To-Be processes
Evaluate SAP MM Purchasing, Inventory Management, Invoice Management, and AP against current S/4HANA capabilities, including Fiori workflows, Central Invoice Management, and SAP Business Network integration
Partner with developers to assess custom P2P enhancements, including PO output, approval workflows, invoice processing, and payment programs, and determine retrofit or decommission strategies
Identify opportunities for intelligent automation, including invoice processing, supplier matching, spend analytics, and related SAP AI capabilities
Ensure P2P designs align with FM budget availability, grant-funded procurement requirements, and FI/CO cost assignment structures
Map procurement compliance requirements to standard SAP authorization and workflow capabilities to reduce bespoke solutions
Produce As-Is/To-Be process flows, fit-gap analyses, functional specifications, and test cases
Deliver effectively in a fast-paced, timeline-driven environment
Required Qualifications
8-10+ years of SAP MM/AP (P2P) consulting experience with S/4HANA on-premise implementation or transformation experience
Deep expertise in SAP MM Purchasing, Inventory Management, Logistics Invoice Verification, and FI-AP
Strong understanding of S/4HANA P2P simplifications, Universal Journal impacts on AP, invoice management, and Fiori-based procurement
Experience with post-brownfield custom code rationalization and process standardization
Experience in banking, financial services, or multilateral development finance environments
Familiarity with public sector procurement governance, transparency, and compliance requirements
Proven ability to lead transformation workshops across procurement and finance teams
Experience partnering with ABAP developers to assess and challenge custom P2P enhancements
Knowledge of AI and automation capabilities for procurement and payables, including intelligent invoice processing, supplier analytics, and spend visibility
Excellent communication skills across senior business and technical stakeholders
Ability to deliver under aggressive timelines in complex, multi-workstream environments
Preferred Qualifications
SAP Ariba or SAP Business Network integration experience
Knowledge of multi-currency payments, FX controls, and cross-border vendor management
Experience with SAP Central Invoice Management (CIM) or OpenText VIM
SAP MM or S/4HANA Sourcing & Procurement certification preferred
