Role Overview
We are seeking a Lead Data Platform Engineer to support and modernize a public-cloud data ecosystem, with an emphasis on AWS, big data platforms, and automation. This is a hands-on lead role that blends cloud data engineering, production operations, automation, CI/CD, and technical leadership. This role supports global data initiatives, including China-adjacent cloud environments, which is why experience with certain regional cloud platforms is highly valued.
Key Responsibilities
- Support production and non-production cloud data platforms.
- Build, test, and refine cloud data processes to meet business needs.
- Own and improve automation and CI/CD pipelines.
- Configure and tune Informatica in cloud environments.
- Work within AWS multi-account architectures.
- Lead and mentor engineers through direct and indirect leadership.
- Partner with global teams using cloud technologies.
- Execute initiatives based on a multi-year cloud and data roadmap.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex data and platform issues.
Required Qualifications
Experience:- 5-7 years supporting applications in a production environment.
- 2+ years of AWS experience in a production environment with a multi-account topology, including services like RDS, Redshift, S3, IAM, and EMR.
- 2+ years of experience with open-source cloud provisioning tools (Terraform, Ansible) in production cloud environments.
- 2+ years of scripting (Python, Bash) and deployment experience in production environments for automation.
- 2+ years of experience with big data applications deployed in a public cloud (Informatica, AWS EMR, Spark, Datalake).
- Demonstrated experience leading engineers, mentoring team members, and managing large-scale projects.
Technical Skills:- Infrastructure as Code: Terraform is required; Ansible is strongly preferred.
- Big Data Platforms: Hands-on experience with Informatica configuration and tuning.
- Cloud Data Tools: Proficiency with AWS EMR, Spark, and data lakes.
- Automation & DevOps: Experience with CI/CD pipelines for production deployments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree, or an Associate Degree plus 6+ years of technology-related experience, or a High School Degree/GED plus 12+ years of technology-related experience.
- Experience with AWS China or Alibaba Cloud.
- Experience supporting China-based or APAC data environments.
- Fluency in Chinese (Mandarin).
- Relevant public cloud certifications (e.g., AWS, Terraform, Ansible).
Compensation
The pay rate for this position is expected to be between $55.00/hr and $66.00/hr. The final rate will be determined based on experience and other factors.
