Job Title: Field Support Engineer
Location: San Jose, CA
Hours: 8:00am - 5:00pm
FLSA: Non-Exempt, Full-Time, Direct Hire
A leading provider of semiconductor manufacturing automation equipment is seeking a skilled and experienced Field Support Engineer. This position plays a key role in troubleshooting, installing, repairing, and programming industrial machines and software at customer sites as part of a collaborative team. The company provides comprehensive training to ensure you are well-prepared for success. Approximately 75% of the work will be performed at local client sites, with 25% involving out-of-state travel. When not on-site, you will have the flexibility to work from home. A San Jose office is also available if you prefer to work there.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with hands-on technical experience who enjoys working directly with clients in a dynamic environment.
Responsibilities:
Provide on-site engineering support to ensure optimal performance at customer manufacturing sites.
Perform installations, repairs, retrofits, reconfigurations, and programming of industrial machines and software.
Assist clients with network configuration and administration, including the setup of Windows & Database servers.
Accurately document service logs to maintain comprehensive reporting.
Conduct customer training on the company's software products as required.
Ensure services are provided following company policies, protocols, and service manuals.
Escalate issues or suggest improvements to maintain and enhance company quality standards.
Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Electrical, or a related Engineering field is preferred.
Basic knowledge and hands-on experience in mechanical and electrical systems.
Previous field service or customer support experience.
Basic knowledge of Windows OS and networking concepts.
Willingness to travel; up to 25% of the role involves out of state travel.
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Prior experience in semiconductor manufacturing or Surface Mount Technology (SMT) is highly desirable.
