Structural & Payload Design Engineer 3

Location: North Charleston, South Carolina (Onsite)

Role Overview

Our organization seeks a Structural & Payload Design Engineer to develop, integrate, and document requirements for structural and interior payload systems. This role involves designing, maintaining, and modifying system and component designs using 3-D CAD tools. The selected candidate will engage in work that spans the product lifecycle, from customer configuration and supplier engagement to design validation and production support, within a dynamic engineering environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, integrate, and document structural and interior payload system requirements to establish the system design.
  • Develop, maintain, and modify structural and interior payload system and component designs using 3-D Computer Aided Design tools.
*Provide product definition to other engineering groups, production operations, suppliers, and external customers.
  • Perform and integrate analytical and test results to validate and verify that systems and components meet requirements.
  • Manage supplier development, test, and production activities, coordinating with suppliers to optimize design.
  • Develop new design and analysis processes and tools to improve development effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Investigate emerging technologies to develop concepts for future product designs.
  • Provide engineering support and project leadership within a production system.
Required Qualifications

Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering with a focus on Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace, Aeronautical, or Material Sciences.

Experience: 5+ years of experience in engineering, including design, integration, and/or certification, or an equivalent combination of additional education and relevant experience.

Technical Skills: Experience with 3-D Computer Aided Design tools and/or other design methods.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong understanding and demonstrated experience with FAA Title 14 Part 25 and/or EASA equivalent.
  • Experience in aerospace interiors, materials and properties, design criteria, and release processes.
  • Experience in program or project management, including development and execution of schedule milestones and financial or resource assessments.
  • Experience leading a cross-functional team.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and critical thinking.
  • Ability to clearly convey information and ideas to a variety of audiences.
  • Demonstrated interest in continuous personal learning and development.
