Role Overview
This position supports the quality assurance process for a leader in advanced manufacturing. The Quality Assurance Technician will be responsible for performing detailed inspections on robotic assemblies, mechanical components, and electronic systems. This role is integral to maintaining high standards of quality and ensuring products meet precise engineering specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform incoming, in-process, and final inspections of robotic assemblies, mechanical components, electronic assemblies, and packaging.
- Execute dimensional, functional, and visual inspections using calibrated measurement tools such as calipers, gauges, and torque wrenches.
- Conduct First Article Inspections (FAI) and validate assemblies against engineering drawings, BOMs, and work instructions.
- Record inspection results accurately in the Manufacturing Execution System (MES).
- Follow and enforce the Control Plan, QC Work Instructions, and Standard Operating Procedures.
- Verify correct assembly of robotic subsystems, including gantries, actuators, sensors, and camera modules.
- Escalate build quality issues and concerns to the Quality Engineer.
- Support the development and revision of inspection criteria and quality documentation.
- Report quality metrics to the quality team during daily stand-ups.
- Work with Process Engineers, Product Quality Engineers, and Operations to resolve quality issues.
Required Qualifications
Education: A high school diploma or GED is required.
Experience: A minimum of 2 years of experience in a quality inspection role within a manufacturing or assembly environment is required. This includes experience with mechanical and electromechanical assembly inspection.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, schematics, and BOMs. Familiarity with measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, torque wrenches, and optical inspection equipment is necessary. Experience with NCR documentation and quality management systems (QMS) is also required.
Preferred Qualifications
- An Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology, Manufacturing, or a related field.
- Experience in robotics, automation, or advanced manufacturing environments.
- Knowledge of robotic subsystems (gantries, EoAT, vision/camera systems, actuators).
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality management standards.
- ASQ Certified Quality Inspector (CQI) or an equivalent certification.
- Experience with CAPA processes and root cause analysis methodologies (8D, 5-Why, Fishbone).
- Proficiency with quality data tools and ERP/MES systems.
Compensation & Benefits
The pay rate for this position is between $26.00 and $36.00 per hour. Compensation may vary based on factors such as experience, qualifications, and location. A benefits package may be available to eligible employees.
