Summary

Role: Business Analyst - Rates, FX, Equities, or Credit
Location: NYC,NY (3 Days a Week - NO RELOCATION)

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with business stakeholders to gather, analyze, and document detailed business, functional, and data requirements across Rates & FX trading platforms (voice and electronic).
  • Translate business requirements into clear user stories, functional specifications, and process flows to support development and delivery teams.
  • Conduct gap analysis and impact assessments for new initiatives, regulatory changes, and system enhancements.
  • Facilitate workshops and stakeholder discussions to define scope, requirements, and acceptance criteria.
  • Work closely with technology teams (development, QA, data, infrastructure) to ensure accurate interpretation and implementation of requirements.
  • Support end-to-end delivery by ensuring requirements traceability from initiation through implementation and post-release validation.
  • Assist in defining target operating models and improving front-to-back trading workflows (Front, Middle, Back Office).
  • Collaborate with Compliance and Regulatory teams to ensure requirements align with frameworks such as MiFID, EMIR, and market surveillance obligations.
  • Develop process models, data flows, and documentation using tools such as Visio or BPMN.
  • Support testing efforts including SIT and UAT by defining test cases, validating outcomes, and ensuring business requirements are met.
  • Identify risks, issues, and dependencies related to requirements and escalate as needed to protect delivery outcomes.
  • Provide ongoing support for BAU enhancements and continuous improvement initiatives across trading systems.

Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience as a Business Analyst within financial services, ideally supporting trading technology (Rates, FX, Equities, or Credit).
  • Strong experience gathering and documenting requirements and working across multiple stakeholders and teams.
  • Deep understanding of trading products and workflows, including:
  •  
    • FX: Spot, Forwards, NDFs, Options
    • Rates: Government bonds, repos, swaps, swaptions
    • Equities/Credit: Cash equities, derivatives, CDS
  • Knowledge of hybrid broking environments, including voice trading and electronic execution platforms.
  • Strong understanding of front-to-back trading lifecycle (execution, validation, settlement, reporting).
  • Experience working with regulatory frameworks such as MiFID, EMIR, FCA, and market surveillance.
  • Ability to perform data analysis and understand data lineage, quality, and governance concepts.
  • Familiarity with trading infrastructure, including applications, databases, and basic cloud/on-prem environments.

Communication & Stakeholder Management (5+ years)

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex trading and technical concepts into clear business language.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement experience with Front Office users, technology teams, and senior leadership.
  • Ability to facilitate workshops, manage competing priorities, and drive consensus across diverse stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented, analytical, and solution-focused mindset with strong documentation capabilities.

Technology & Methodology

  • Experience working in Agile, SAFe, Waterfall, or hybrid environments with a strong understanding of SDLC.
  • Proficiency in tools such as Microsoft Office, Visio, and requirements management platforms (e.g., Jira, Confluence).
  • Experience with process modeling (BPMN 2.0) and documentation best practices.
  • Exposure to testing methodologies, release processes, and operational readiness activities.
