Position Overview
We are seeking a Level 4 Telecommunications Technician to lead equipment installations and network upgrades across Central Offices, MSOs, and Data Centers. This senior-level role requires strong leadership, deep technical knowledge, and the ability to mentor junior technicians.
Candidates should have experience with major telecom platforms, including:
Transport & Access Gear: Adtran, Cisco, Ciena (Ethernet & DWDM), Infinera, Fujitsu, Calix, Nokia
Power Systems: Vertiv, Eltek, and -48VDC battery systems
Prior central office network experience is required. The position involves extensive travel and demands a highly self-motivated, safety-focused professional.
Leadership & Safety
  • Serve as lead technician on installation projects, providing on-site leadership and mentoring for junior staff.
  • Conduct daily safety briefings and weekly toolbox talks; ensure compliance with OSHA, AT&T, and company safety policies.
  • Coordinate high-risk activities, including live network integrations, with emphasis on risk mitigation and clear escalation protocols.
Technical Execution
  • Install, upgrade, and integrate telecom equipment in Central Offices, MSOs, and Data Centers.
  • Interpret and execute from technical documents, including rack layouts, floor plans, and customer work orders.
  • Build and install support infrastructure (cable racks, fiber ducts, framing hardware).
  • Terminate, route, and manage fiber and copper cabling (LC/SC, RJ45, BNC); demonstrate proficiency in lacing and sewing methods.
  • Configure and commission -48VDC power systems, rectifiers, batteries, and distribution panels; perform hot cuts where required.
  • Utilize hand tools, test equipment, and computer interfaces to validate installations.
Communications & Documentation
  • Collaborate with client engineers, site supervisors, and project managers to ensure alignment on scope and deliverables.
  • Maintain accurate documentation using Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and client-specific systems.
  • Provide clear, professional verbal and written communication with internal teams and customers.
Minimum Requirements
  • Must successfully complete background check and drug screening.
  • Valid driver s license, clean driving record, and reliable transportation required.
  • Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and extended hours as projects demand.
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively (regional and multi-state).
Physical Requirements
  • Physically capable of lifting and transporting up to 50 lbs.
  • Comfortable working at heights, on ladders, and in varied postures (bending, climbing, crawling).
  • Ability to work in outdoor and indoor environments, including uneven terrain.
  • Good vision required, including ability to distinguish color-coded wiring.
  • Must demonstrate safe judgment and adherence to site procedures.
Qualifications
  • Technical trade school certificate or equivalent on-the-job training.
  • Proven experience in Central Office, MSO, or Data Center installation.
  • Strong working knowledge of -48VDC power systems, including hot cuts.
  • Familiarity with Telcordia GR-1275 and AT&T TP-76300 / TP-76400.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Familiarity with multiple vendor platforms (Adtran, Cisco, Ciena, Infinera, etc.).
