Job Description:
Apex Systems is hiring for an Sr. Production Control Engineer (3rd shift) for a major Healthcare company.
12-month contract with possibility to extend or convert.
FULLY remote anywhere in the US.
Must be able to work 1030P to 830A CST; this role is 4x10 hour shifts - Sun/Mon/Tues/Wed.
You must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
About the role:
This role is responsible for performing continuous (24x7) monitoring of the client's application and infrastructure environment to ensure system stability and availability.
The individual in this position will lead a team of monitoring analysts and act as a key point of contact during incidents and outages.
The selected candidate will serve in a dual-capacity role-acting as both a technical resource and a shift lead, providing guidance, oversight, and technical support to an offshore monitoring team.
Team of 6-8 offshore vendor resources who perform monitoring and alert response duties during their daytime shift (aligned with the U.S. overnight hours).
The offshore team is experienced and capable of executing assigned tasks but requires direction, oversight, and escalation support from this position.
Acts as the primary U.S.-based point of contact for overnight monitoring operations, ensuring processes are followed and incidents are managed effectively.
Education/Experience:
8+ years
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
Technical Skills:
Experience with enterprise monitoring platforms:
o Dynatrace
o SolarWinds
o Splunk
Incident Detection, Response & Management:
o Expertise in incident triage, prioritization, and escalation.
o Familiarity with ITIL-based processes and Major Incident Management best practices.
ITSM Tools & Process Execution:
o Experience working with ticketing and workflow in Service now.
o Understanding of change and problem management processes.
Soft Skills:

Day to Day:
Oversee and guide a team of 6 - 8 monitoring contractors, ensuring all activities follow established processes and procedures.
Monitor application and infrastructure systems using enterprise tools to detect and respond to alerts in real time.
Perform initial triage and investigation of alerts to determine root causes and escalate appropriately.
Participate in and potentially lead Major Incident Calls, coordinating with technical teams to resolve issues efficiently.
Communicate effectively with senior leadership and stakeholders regarding incident impact, user disruption, and resolution progress.
Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to improve monitoring coverage, alert quality, and process efficiency.
Maintain detailed documentation of incidents, actions taken, and follow-up activities.
