About the Role

We are seeking a skilled SQL Database Administrator / Data Engineer with strong expertise in migrating on-premises databases to cloud environments. The ideal candidate will support data platform modernization initiatives, including database migration, Python-based data processing, and building scalable cloud-based data pipelines.

This role also involves supporting database operations, monitoring system performance, and developing dashboards to ensure data quality, reliability, and optimal performance for reporting and analytics.

Key Responsibilities

Support migration of on-premises databases to cloud platforms
Develop Python scripts for data processing, transformation, and bulk data loads
Build and maintain cloud-based data pipelines
Design and implement logical and physical data models
Support application teams with database solutions and schema design
Monitor database performance and ensure production stability
Develop dashboards and metrics for performance and data quality monitoring
Perform data validation, migration testing, and performance tuning
Support ongoing database administration and operational activities

Required Skills & Experience

Core Technical Skills

Strong experience in SQL Server and database administration
Hands-on experience with database migration from on-premises to cloud environments
Experience with cloud database technologies, including:

Amazon RDS
DynamoDB

Proficiency in Python for data processing, transformation, and automation
Experience building cloud-based data pipelines using:

S3
Glue
Lambda

Strong experience in data modeling (logical and physical)

Migration & Tools

Experience with database migration/archiving strategies
Familiarity with tools such as:

AWS Database Migration Service (DMS)
Schema Conversion Tool (SCT)

Data & Platform Experience

Experience working with large datasets and ETL pipelines
Knowledge of data lake architecture
Experience with databases such as:

PostgreSQL
SQL Server
DynamoDB

Additional Technical Skills

Hands-on experience with cloud data services (S3, RDS, DynamoDB, etc.)
Experience with data management and governance tools (e.g., Glue Data Catalog, API integrations)
Familiarity with version control and CI/CD tools (e.g., Git-based tools, pipeline automation)

Preferred Skills

Experience Requirements

5+ years of experience in Database Administration, Data Engineering, or a related field
3+ years of experience working with cloud platforms and modern data solutions
