Role Overview
This position is for a specialized contingent worker who will take ownership of and stabilize a portfolio of airspace efficiency systems and services, with an emphasis on time-critical, flight-safety-related functions. The role will also lead the modernization of legacy components to existing SaaS platforms, Azure services, and standard enterprise tools. The objective is to ensure continuity and reliability while accelerating modernization efforts to reduce cyber and resource risks.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and stabilize the airspace efficiency services portfolio, ensuring reliability of time-critical, flight-safety-related services.
- Lead technical modernization to transition HCL Domino-based and other legacy products to modern platforms.
- Manage day-to-day operation of all applications, services, and workflows, ensuring availability, performance, and timely issue resolution.
- Operate and enhance customer-facing portals and maintain automation for data retrieval, ingestion, and processing.
- Manage inbound and outbound email and SFTP flows, and configure supporting infrastructure such as VMs, file shares, and firewalls.
- Analyze existing legacy applications, document dependencies, and define a target-state architecture and migration roadmap.
- Design and implement modern data and integration patterns to reduce reliance on legacy systems.
- Produce design documentation, migration playbooks, and support runbooks for modernized components.
Required Qualifications
Technical Skills:- Proficiency in HCL Domino (v8 or greater), including application development, administration, LotusScript, Formula Language, and the Domino Object Model.
- Experience with Domino web technologies such as xPages and a practical understanding of the Domino security model.
- Mid-level skills in Python and C#, with basic skills in PowerShell and JavaScript.
- Familiarity with web scraping, XML, and Windows Task Scheduler.
- Broad, mid-level familiarity with Windows and hosting infrastructure (VMs, file shares), network security components (firewalls, app gateways), SSL/HTTPS configuration, and SFTP/email integrations.
- Ability to self-teach and resolve most Azure issues using documentation and web resources.
Soft Skills and Working Style:- Demonstrated ability for self-directed learning to investigate and resolve unfamiliar technical issues.
- Comfort operating under time pressure for mission-critical services.
- A customer-value mindset and effective communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in the aerospace domain is strongly preferred. This may include experience as a pilot, air traffic controller, airline operations staff, or similar aviation roles.
- Demonstrated comfort working with operational aviation data and concepts, such as NOTAMs and forecasts.
