Role Overview
This position supports the development and implementation of innovative solutions for critical elements supporting advanced sensing capabilities. The Lead System Engineer will be instrumental in ensuring efficient, sustainable, and secure command and control of space-based defense capabilities. This is an opportunity to make a tangible difference in a mission-critical environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and design solutions to optimize efficiency, security, and sustainability for a platform supporting missile defense.
- Lead a team to conduct studies and analyses, define requirements, and engineer ground system and platform architectures.
- Oversee system development for enterprise services, satellite ground systems, and operations centers.
- Support projects from initiation through requirements management, task execution, and ground system sustainment.
- Document designs and create comprehensive implementation and test plans for execution by sustainment personnel.
- Direct a cohesive partnership with other engineers, system administrators, cybersecurity, and project management teams to ensure seamless integration.
- Work collaboratively with Project Managers to define tasks and schedules.
Required Qualifications
Must possess 10+ years of general work experience, which may be reduced with the completion of advanced education. Additional required qualifications include:
- Five or more years of directly related experience in the support or management of IT systems engineering or an architecture role within a DoD and/or commercial enterprise.
- Two or more years of experience leading and managing system engineers within a DoD and/or commercial enterprise.
- Subject matter expertise in system engineering with extensive knowledge of virtual IT environments.
- A fundamental understanding of Requirements Analysis and Management principles.
- A proficient understanding of the System Engineering V-Model and engineering lifecycle.
- Experience with Linux and Windows administration, storage management, and database management techniques.
- Willingness and ability to obtain an active DoD Top Secret Security Clearance with SCI eligibility.
