Job Title: PGD Engineer - Solar Inverter Team
Position Specific Description
The Power Generation Division is currently seeking a PGD Engineer who can apply diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices to a broad variety of assignments and fields related to solar power generation. This candidate will need to make decisions independently regarding engineering issues and processes. This position requires supervision only related to high level objectives and critical issues.
Primary Areas of Responsibility - CWE/ROCC Process Improvements:
Develop and refine troubleshooting guides for top fault codes across all inverter technologies
Build out and maintain fault code database and Do Not Reset (DNR) lists
Utilize AI to create troubleshooting guides and apply engineering principles to datasets to synthesize information
Serve as primary technical liaison between Solar Inverter Fleet Team, ROCC, and CWE, acting independently on technical matters
Complete process improvement assignments with broad terms, general objectives, and limitations
Interface with individuals and OEMs within and outside the organization with responsibility to act independently regarding technical matters pertaining to individual projects
Supporting Areas of Responsibility - Solar Inverter Team:
Support component failure rate analysis and development of work plans
Become a subject matter expert in at least one inverter manufacturer
Conduct root-cause analysis (RCA) for equipment failures at solar sites
Provide assistance to field technicians and ROCC operators with troubleshooting inverter and other solar issues
Support the development of countermeasures for recurring issues
Support responses to regulatory bodies for data requests
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering
Bachelor's Degree in other engineering discipline with equivalent experience with electrical systems
5+ years of engineering experience
Utility-scale inverter and power electronics experience
Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with operations teams
Desired Qualifications:
Master's degree in electrical engineering
2 years of experience with solar inverters
Six Sigma Green Belt
Previous experience in operations support or control center environments
