Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Product Owner / Domain Expert with strong knowledge of Loan Origination and Loan Servicing processes. The ideal candidate will work closely with business, technology, data, operations, compliance, and analytics teams within the Chief Data Office / Data Organization to drive product strategy, business requirements, data initiatives, and process improvements across lending platforms.

This role requires a strong understanding of the mortgage or banking lifecycle, including application intake, underwriting, closing, funding, servicing, escrow, payments, default management, investor reporting, and regulatory/compliance processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the business domain expert for Loan Origination and Loan Servicing functions.
  • Work as a Product Owner within the data organization to define product vision, roadmap, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
  • Partner with business stakeholders to gather, analyze, and document requirements.
  • Translate business needs into functional requirements for technology, data engineering, reporting, and analytics teams.
  • Support data initiatives related to lending, servicing, customer, loan, payment, escrow, investor, and regulatory data.
  • Collaborate with data teams to improve data quality, data governance, lineage, reporting, and dashboard capabilities.
  • Prioritize backlog items and ensure delivery teams understand business value and expected outcomes.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog grooming, demos, and retrospectives.
  • Validate delivered solutions against business requirements and acceptance criteria.
  • Identify process gaps and recommend improvements across loan origination and servicing workflows.
  • Support UAT planning, test case review, defect triage, and business sign-off.
  • Work with compliance, risk, and operations teams to ensure solutions meet regulatory and audit requirements.
  • Serve as a bridge between business users, product teams, data teams, and technology teams.

Required Skills

  • Strong domain experience in Loan Origination and/or Loan Servicing.
  • Experience working as a Product Owner, Business Analyst, Domain Consultant, or SME in financial services.
  • Good understanding of mortgage banking, consumer lending, or commercial lending processes.
  • Experience working within a Chief Data Office, data governance, data management, or analytics-driven organization.
  • Ability to write clear business requirements, user stories, process flows, and acceptance criteria.
  • Strong understanding of data concepts such as data quality, data mapping, data lineage, reporting, and data governance.
  • Experience working with Agile / Scrum delivery teams.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to interact with senior business and technology stakeholders.
  • Ability to analyze complex business processes and convert them into actionable product requirements.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with mortgage platforms, loan servicing systems, LOS platforms, or banking data platforms.
  • Knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements related to lending and servicing.
  • Familiarity with SQL, reporting tools, dashboards, or data warehouse concepts.
  • Experience supporting modernization, cloud migration, data lake, data warehouse, or enterprise data initiatives.
  • Experience with tools such as Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps, ServiceNow, Tableau, Power BI, or similar platforms.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is a lending domain expert who understands both business operations and data-driven product delivery. They should be comfortable working with cross-functional teams, clarifying business needs, prioritizing requirements, and ensuring that data and technology solutions support loan origination, loan servicing, reporting, compliance, and operational efficiency.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field preferred. Equivalent industry experience will also be considered.
