Summary

Network Technician

Introduction:

As a Network Technician, you will be responsible for supporting and maintaining network systems, including wireless networks. You will monitor networks to ensure stable and dependable network services across multiple platforms. Your role will involve configuring and troubleshooting computer networks, maintaining LAN/WLAN/WAN operations, and working with network facilities and vendors to resolve issues timely.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and configure startup and running configs for network switch equipment.
  • Perform network configurations from DMARC to workstations, including fiber distribution, routers, switches, DHCP, and necessary topology for high QoS.
  • Monitor protocol compatibility, perform system tuning, and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and maintain network multiplexers, hubs, routers, and use remote monitoring tools.
  • Perform capacity and resource planning, assess network risks, and develop contingency plans.
  • Communicate with the Information Security Team on firewall rules needed to support projects and new equipment/applications.
  • Maintain and utilize network management applications to identify faults, ensure data access, and facilitate information movement.
  • Adhere to departmental procedures and policies, including on-site travel for issue resolution and resource deployment.
  • Accurately track incidents and IT equipment transfers/relocations through service desk ticketing systems.
  • Participate in after-hours on-call rotation.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.

Requirements:

  • IT Enterprise Network Experience is required.
  • Experience with HPE/Aruba networking equipment is highly desired.
  • Preparation, configuration, and support of Windows systems, Active Directory, MECM.
  • Willingness and ability to travel regularly; valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; certifications preferred (CompTIA Network+ and/or Security+, Cisco CCNA).
  • Ability to learn new systems and software in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, critical and analytical thinking, and adaptability to change.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently or as part of a team.
  • Capacity to perform in high-pressure situations with strong organizational and time-management skills.
