Role Overview
This role is responsible for the complete design process of electrical parts, modules, and subsystems, with a primary focus on control systems and automation. The position supports the development of entire systems, from initial requirements through manufacturing handoff, and involves hands-on work in lab and cleanroom environments. The engineer will work cross-functionally to ensure system integration.
Key Responsibilities
- Design electrical components, modules, and subsystems through the full design lifecycle, with a focus on control systems and some power distribution.
- Support control systems design, including system interlocking, laser chiller control, and PLC-driven automation systems.
- Conduct feasibility studies, cost and scheduling analysis, and various engineering analyses.
- Perform conceptual and detailed design using tools such as OrCAD, PSpice, and FPGA development systems.
- Create detailed drawings and lead design review presentations.
- Manage procurement of prototype parts and support system integration and testing.
- Collaborate with mechanical, optical, software, systems, and manufacturing engineering teams.
- Develop supporting documentation, including assembly and test procedures, and service manuals.
- Work with suppliers to ensure all design requirements are specified and achieved.
- Address and resolve product issues throughout the product phases.
Required Qualifications
Education: A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field is preferred. PhD candidates with relevant experience will also be considered.
Experience: A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience is required. PhD candidates with approximately 2-3 years of experience are acceptable.
Technical Skills: PLC programming expertise is required (e.g., Siemens, Allen Bradley, Omron). A strong background in electrical design is also necessary.
Professional Skills: The position requires strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills to work effectively in a cross-functional engineering environment.
