The Senior Oracle HCM Cloud Functional Architect acts as an enterprise-wide strategic leader and subject-matter expert for the organization's Oracle Cloud ERP platform and administrative systems. In this capacity, the architect provides authoritative guidance on system architecture, data governance, integration strategy, and solution design, ensuring that technology decisions align with operational, financial, and compliance priorities. The role shapes cross-functional roadmaps, influences policy development, and advises leadership on the implications of system design choices across the enterprise.
This position requires expert-level technical and functional ERP mastery, paired with deep knowledge of the organization's business processes, operational structures, and policy frameworks. As a recognized authority in Oracle Cloud ERP, the architect leads the design, configuration, testing, and governance of enterprise solutions that enable efficient, compliant, and scalable business operations. The role regularly addresses issues with significant organizational impact, often involving complex, precedent-setting analysis and recommendations.
Acting as the principal liaison between HR functional leaders, IT technical teams, and Oracle Support, the architect ensures that Oracle Cloud HCM configurations, integrations, and enhancements align with business processes, policy frameworks, and long-term strategic direction. The position requires a comprehensive understanding of HR operations, payroll structures, personnel policies, and compliance obligations. Success in this role demands advanced analytical expertise, the ability to lead cross-functional decision-making, and the capacity to deliver high-impact, enterprise-class HCM solutions that are scalable, reliable, and optimized for institutional objectives.
Success in this role requires hands-on experience with Oracle Cloud configuration, data validation, regression testing, and issue triage, as well as proficiency with tools such as OTBI, BI Publisher, BI Cloud Connect, and HCM Extracts. Experience supporting one or more Oracle Cloud HCM modules-such as Core HR, Recruiting, Talent Management, Compensation, Absence Management, or HR Help Desk-is essential. The position may include periodic onsite work depending on organizational needs.
Salary placement and offer components depend on institutional policies, internal equity, and relevant experience. For roles covered by collective bargaining agreements, placement within the salary range follows the applicable contract.
Department DescriptionThe Information Technology organization provides full IT services and systems support for faculty, staff, students, and affiliated entities. The Enterprise Applications team supports institution-wide business applications, including but not limited to financial systems, human capital management systems, procurement platforms, and other administrative technologies. The team ensures day-to-day operations as well as the implementation of new enhancements driven by organizational needs.
Required Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent experience/training
- 10 years of related experience
- 5 years of experience with ERP or HCM systems
- Expert-level knowledge of business and process analysis methodologies, with the ability to lead enterprise-wide requirements strategy, facilitate complex fit-gap assessments, and drive redesign of cross-functional business processes
- Advanced proficiency with relational data structures, SQL concepts, reporting architecture, and data governance practices
- Expertise in developing and overseeing comprehensive testing strategies, including system, integration, regression, security, and user acceptance testing
- Recognized authority in translating business needs into scalable solution architectures, including configuration standards, workflow models, data structures, and governance frameworks
- Advanced skills in process design, system configuration, and solution lifecycle management, with the ability to architect and guide multi-module enhancements from concept through implementation
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence executives and explain complex concepts to diverse audiences
- Demonstrated leadership in defining enterprise system strategy, future-state process design, governance of functional standards, conference room pilots, evaluation of new capabilities, and modernization initiatives
Preferred Qualifications- Deep understanding of PeopleSoft HR/Payroll structures, job data, funding attributes, and underlying data models
- Extensive functional expertise in Oracle Cloud ERP across HCM, Financials, or Supply Chain, including configuration governance, integration analysis, quarterly release management, and cross-module design
- Experience operating within a large, complex enterprise environment with significant regulatory and operational requirements
- Deep understanding of HR, supply chain, finance, or healthcare administrative processes, with the ability to incorporate policy and compliance considerations into system design
- Certifications such as:
- Lean Six Sigma Black Belt (LSSBB)
- Project Management Professional (PMP)
- Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP)
