  • Shift: 1st shift 5am-3pm Mon - Thurs and Friday 5am-10am with flexibility as business demands

Position Summary
The Maintenance Planner is responsible for planning, scheduling, and coordinating preventive and corrective maintenance activities for plant equipment, machinery, buildings, and facilities. This role receives maintenance requests, prioritizes work orders, assigns tasks to maintenance personnel, and ensures the timely procurement of parts, materials, and services required to support maintenance operations. The position also provides technical support, monitors inventory levels, maintains maintenance records, and contributes to initiatives that improve equipment reliability, safety, and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities
  • Receive and review maintenance requests from throughout the facility.
  • Prioritize, plan, schedule, and assign maintenance work to non-skilled, semi-skilled, and skilled trades personnel.
  • Coordinate preventive maintenance programs to maximize equipment reliability and uptime.
  • Provide technical support to maintenance teams by obtaining drawings, reviewing procedures, identifying required parts, equipment, and tools.
  • Source vendors, obtain quotations, and process purchase orders for repair parts, spare components, maintenance materials, and external services.
  • Monitor maintenance inventory, crib stock, and consumable usage to maintain optimal inventory levels and support cost-reduction initiatives.
  • Generate maintenance reports, work order updates, and performance metrics as required.
  • Assist with the development and updating of preventive maintenance documentation and procedures.
  • Ensure maintenance practices comply with applicable safety standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Support facility engineering and continuous improvement projects related to equipment and maintenance operations.
  • Provide daily work direction to maintenance personnel and assist with supervisory responsibilities when required.

Primary Functions

Working within a team environment, the successful candidate may perform one or more of the following:
  • Analyze equipment failures and determine root causes.
  • Overhaul, dismantle, repair, and rebuild complex machinery and mechanical systems.
  • Perform precision alignment, fitting, and adjustment of machine components to close tolerances.
  • Fabricate, modify, or replace machine parts as needed to maintain equipment functionality.
  • Inspect machinery and equipment, document findings, and recommend future repair requirements.
  • Ensure replacement parts are identified and available to minimize downtime.

Job Duties
  • Plan work sequences and obtain the tools, equipment, and materials required for assigned tasks.
  • Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, manufacturer manuals, schematics, and sketches.
  • Perform complete overhauls and rebuilds of complex industrial machinery.
  • Machine and fabricate replacement parts to precise tolerances.
  • Disassemble, repair, and reassemble equipment while maintaining original alignment and performance standards.
  • Adjust equipment to specified operating clearances and tolerances.
  • Install, fit, and align gears, shafts, bearings, pulleys, motors, and related mechanical components.
  • Conduct inspections, troubleshoot issues, and perform necessary adjustments or repairs.
  • Lubricate, grease, clean, and maintain repaired or rebuilt equipment.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment while adhering to company safety policies and procedures.
  • Perform other maintenance-related duties as assigned.

Electrical Responsibilities
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and ladder logic documentation.
  • Troubleshoot electrical control systems and identify fault locations.
  • Work with industrial electrical systems, including 240V and 480V equipment.
  • Assist with diagnosing and repairing electrical and electromechanical equipment issues.

Qualifications
  • Experience in industrial maintenance, maintenance planning, equipment repair, or a related field.
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, technical drawings, and maintenance documentation.
  • Knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance practices.
  • Experience working with industrial machinery, machine tools, and electrical systems.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining a strong focus on safety.
