Summary

Job Title: Senior Infrastructure Project Manager

Location: Greater Boston Area (Hybrid – On-site 3-4 days a week)
Duration: 12-Month Contract
Schedule: Monday–Friday, First Shift
Compensation: Approximately $70–$91/hour (based on experince) 


Overview

A large, complex organization is seeking a highly experienced Senior Infrastructure Project Manager to lead the successful delivery of enterprise-level IT initiatives. This role is responsible for managing large-scale, cross-functional technology projects that support strategic business objectives.

The Senior Project Manager will oversee end-to-end project execution, align stakeholders across technical and business teams, and ensure delivery within scope, schedule, and budget. This position requires a balance of strategic thinking and hands-on execution, along with strong leadership and influencing capabilities.

This is a hybrid role requiring regular on-site presence multiple days per week in the greater Boston area.


Qualifications (Education & Experience)

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or related field
  • Project management certification preferred (e.g., PMP, Agile, PRINCE2)
  • 8–10+ years of progressive IT project management experience
  • Proven track record managing large, complex, cross-functional initiatives in matrixed environments
  • Experience delivering enterprise technology projects (e.g., CRM, ERP, infrastructure, cloud, or data integration)
  • 5+ years partnering with business leaders and technical teams to translate requirements into execution plans
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams and influence stakeholders without direct authority
  • Experience managing competing priorities in fast-paced or evolving environments
  • Strong analytical mindset with data-driven decision-making capabilities

Project Management Skills & Competencies

  • Expertise in project delivery methodologies (Waterfall, Agile, Hybrid)
  • Proficiency with project tools (e.g., MS Project, Smartsheet, Jira, ServiceNow)
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, including executive-level presentations
  • Ability to build relationships and drive alignment across diverse stakeholder groups
  • Experience in budgeting, forecasting, and resource planning
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Understanding of emerging technologies and digital transformation trends
  • Ability to align IT initiatives with broader business goals

Infrastructure Knowledge & Experience

  • Experience working with network infrastructure environments
  • Familiarity with structured cabling systems (fiber, copper, coaxial)
  • Understanding of construction documentation, layouts, or technical diagrams (e.g., blueprints, AutoCAD)
  • Knowledge of industry standards related to network infrastructure is preferred
  • Experience coordinating infrastructure deployments or upgrades
  • Background in construction or facilities-related technology projects is a plus

Key Responsibilities

Project Leadership & Delivery

  • Lead planning, execution, and delivery of multiple complex IT and infrastructure projects
  • Develop and manage project plans, timelines, budgets, and resource allocations
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned to business objectives
  • Identify risks and implement mitigation strategies
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation

Stakeholder Engagement & Communication

  • Act as the primary liaison between business stakeholders, technical teams, and leadership
  • Build and maintain strong cross-functional relationships
  • Provide regular updates on project status, risks, and performance metrics
  • Facilitate alignment across teams and ensure clear communication

Team Leadership & Collaboration

  • Lead cross-functional teams, including internal staff and external partners
  • Define roles, responsibilities, and expectations
  • Promote accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement

Monitoring, Reporting & Financial Oversight

  • Track project progress, risks, and key milestones
  • Prepare status reports and adjust plans as needed
  • Manage project budgets and ensure financial accountability
  • Conduct post-project reviews and document lessons learned

Infrastructure & Vendor Coordination

  • Oversee vendor relationships and third-party project delivery
  • Coordinate infrastructure installations, upgrades, and expansions
  • Monitor project progress, materials, and resource utilization
  • Ensure timely procurement and delivery of required components
  • Support relocation or modification of technology infrastructure as needed
  • Communicate updates related to installations, issues, or changes to relevant stakeholders
