Brevard St.)Contract Length: 12 months Pay Rate: $52 - $56Top Requirements:3+ years of Apache Spark experience (distributed data processing).2+ years of Django development + strong Python skills.2+ years OpenShift/Kubernetes experience managing containerized workloads.Experience with Google Cloud Platform or major cloud provider (Google Cloud Platform strongly preferred).Hands-on experience with microservices, CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Helm, Harness).Plusses:Experience integrating Spark with Kafka, S3S, databases, or data lakes.Experience with conda environment creation/maintenance.Experience troubleshooting distributed systems at scale.Financial services experience.Job Summary:In this contingent assignment, the Senior Cloud Engineer will support the Model Risk Management platform, which runs large-scale statistical models and distributed data processing workloads. The role includes engineering and maintaining a cloud-native platform built on Google Cloud Platform and Apache Spark, supporting data scientists and statisticians working with massive datasets. The engineer participates in moderately complex engineering initiatives, contributes to platform enhancements, resolves technical issues, and collaborates with internal teams while ensuring adherence to engineering policies, procedures, and compliance requirements.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:Platform Engineering- Deploy, configure, and maintain OpenShift clusters or Google Cloud Platform projects hosting Spark workloads.
- Support platform capabilities enabling scalable statistical model execution.
Distributed Data Processing- Design and implement large-scale data processing workflows using Apache Spark.
- Tune Spark jobs using Kubernetes orchestration, auto-scaling, and resource optimization.
Application & Tooling Development- Build Python/Django applications and microservices supporting platform users.
- Configure internal tools for data processing and model execution.
Automation & CI/CD- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Helm, Sonar, and Harness
- Deploy Spark applications to OpenShift or Google Cloud Platform via modern DevOps tooling.
Monitoring & Troubleshooting- Monitor Spark jobs, cluster health, and resource utilization via Prometheus, Grafana, and Google Cloud Platform tools.
- Debug distributed systems and optimize performance across clusters.
Security & Compliance- Implement RBAC, encryption for data in transit and at rest, and ensure security compliance.
Collaboration- Work with engineering, data science, and platform operations teams to define requirements and support deployments.
