The engineer will work across networking, security, IAM, data analytics, and modernization initiatives to create best-practice Google Cloud Platform landing zones, Terraform-based IaC frameworks, and platform-aligned architectural patterns.
This role solves complex multi-factor engineering problems, drives large-scale cloud modernization strategies, and partners with Enterprise Architecture, InfoSec, Data Engineering, and Platform Engineering teams. The engineer plays a strategic role in shaping cloud posture, platform maturity, governance models, and cross-cloud integration patterns.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:Google Cloud Platform Architecture & Platform Engineering Design VPCs, PSC, LB, routing, Interconnect, VPN, IAM/KMS, logging/monitoring
Build multi-zone and multi-region architectures for enterprise workloads
Partner with InfoSec to enforce governance compliance and secure-by-default controls
Terraform / IaC Engineering Develop reusable Terraform modules for all Google Cloud Platform services
Maintain IaC pipelines (Terraform Cloud / TFE)
Implement guardrails, automated testing, and version-controlled deployments
Modern Data & Analytics Platform Development Architect BigQuery datasets, Dataproc clusters, Dataflow pipelines, Pub/Sub patterns
Implement Dataplex taxonomies, zones, governance, and BigLake/Iceberg table formats
Integrate hybrid/on-prem ingestion, ETL/ELT, and validation patterns
Security, Compliance & Governance Enforce least privilege, IAM roles, VPC SC, DLP, tokenization
Embed policies into IaC blueprints for consistent enterprise adoption
Resiliency, Observability & Cost Governance Implement SLIs/SLOs, reliability patterns, DR/BCP
Build logging, metrics, and alerting across Google Cloud Platform workloads
Drive FinOps and cost-optimization recommendations
Migration & Integration Support migration of Teradata, SQL Server, Oracle, Hadoop workloads into Google Cloud Platform
Validate data parity, performance, and operational readiness post-migration
Architecture Documentation & Leadership Interface Produce HLDs, LLDs, reference architectures, design patterns
Lead architecture walkthroughs with EA, InfoSec, platform engineering, and leadership
