The Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA), 737 Systems Integrated Product Team (IPT) is seeking a high-performing Senior Manager (Level L) to serve as the organization's Deputy Chief Engineer. This role is located in Renton, Washington.

Position Overview:

This manager will lead and inspire a group of first-line leaders and individual contributors performing engineering, technical, and regulatory tasks in all disciplines that fall under the responsibility of the 737 Systems IPT. The position includes responsibility for high-level technical decision making, developing and executing project and process plans, implementing policies and procedures, setting strategic and operational goals for the broader 737 Systems organization, and acquiring financial and technical resources to achieve said goals. The position supports all aspects of 737 Production Programs, including product development/design, production, flight line and fleet support.

Candidates applying for this position should be comfortable providing technical and project management of both Boeing employees and suppliers, as well as leading process improvement activities and developing/implementing cutting-edge methods for managing team workload and resources. The ability to develop and maintain positive and healthy relationships with customers, stakeholders, peers, and executives is a key attribute to being successful in this role. This this role also includes a significant level of mentoring, developing and motivating teammates within the organization.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Works closely with the 737 Systems Chief Engineer and servers as the primary delegate for this role
  • Leads employees and first-level managers performing engineering and technical activities.
  • Develops and implements integrated departmental plans, policies and procedures and provides input on departmental business and technical strategies, goals, objectives.
  • Collaborates across Program, Design Centers, and Customer Support to develop plans, identify risks and opportunities, and integrate schedules
  • Acquires resources for department activities, provides technical management of suppliers and leads process improvements.
  • Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, peers, partners, and team members.
  • Provides guidance and approval of technical approaches, products and processes.
  • Leads, develops, and motivates the teams.

Additional Responsibilities:
  • Ensures that projects are completed on schedule and within budget.
  • Establishes and deploys product roadmaps for 737 Systems
  • Holds organization accountable by establishing and executing a team operating rhythm

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills / Experience):
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus in Electrical, Mechanical or Aeronautical), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
  • 5+ years of engineering related experience.
  • 2+ years of experience as a manager leading engineering teams.
  • Experience in advising and influencing managers or non-managers to meet schedules or resolve technical or operational problems.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • Knowledge of certification flow and requirements management.
  • Previous experience working with Factory, Delivery Centers, Pre-flight, & Fleet Chief's Office.
  • Multi-functional Project Management experience
  • Cross-BCA engineering field experience within Boeing.
  • Knowledge of established policies and procedures that typically affect management and non-management employees.
  • Knowledge of skills and abilities required by management and non-management employees to accomplish daily operational responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of the Engineering Value stream (requirements development through design & integration, release, Fabrication, installation, certification, and postproduction customer support) is a plus.
  • Established track record managing experienced engineers and developing highly effective, distributed teams
  • Ability to manage and influence a large team and complex work statement while balancing the needs of multiple collaborators
  • Strong analytical, planning, and interpersonal skills with an ability to manage challenging demands
  • Comfortable in a multifaceted, matrixed environment with ability to adapt to various situations
  • Experienced leader, who has built an environment conducive to an aggressive development schedule
  • Practical experience in managing complex projects particularly geared around quality, cost and timeliness of delivery.
