Civil Engineer - Facilities & Infrastructure Projects
Job Summary

Apex Systems is seeking a Civil Engineer to support the design and delivery of facilities and infrastructure projects across a wide range of industries, including power, process, industrial, manufacturing, healthcare, pipeline, aviation, institutional, commercial, and government or military facilities. This role involves working as part of a project team throughout the design and construction lifecycle, adapting civil designs to align with budget constraints, design factors, and client requirements.
Key Responsibilities

• Perform civil engineering design from conceptual planning through final design completion
• Modify and review production drawings for a variety of projects, including power plants, process facilities, industrial facilities, healthcare facilities, airports, educational institutions, commercial developments, and government or military facilities
• Design civil components in accordance with project requirements established by project managers
• Apply knowledge of widely used civil engineering and design concepts, principles, practices, codes, and procedures
• Research and compile project-related data as required; prepare studies, reports, and written specifications
• Update and revise drawings provided by senior engineers to ensure required corrections are accurately implemented across multiple CAD platforms
• Compile information for client presentations, shop drawing reviews, and contract administration activities
• Perform field inspections, measurements, and calculations for public and private sector clients
• Support project teams with additional duties as assigned
• Comply with all applicable company policies, procedures, and engineering standards

Required Qualifications

• One of the following education and experience combinations:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field from an ABET-accredited program with 3 years of civil engineering experience, consulting experience preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or related Engineering Technology from an ABET-accredited program, successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam, and 3 years of civil engineering experience, consulting preferred
  • Master's degree in Civil Engineering with 2 years of civil engineering experience, consulting preferred
• Strong working knowledge of standard civil engineering techniques and procedures
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative, problem-solving environment
• Demonstrated critical-thinking skills
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary project teams

Technical Skills & Tools

• Proficiency with standard office software (Microsoft Office Suite)
• Experience with civil engineering and design software, including one or more of the following:
  • AutoCAD
  • MicroStation
  • Civil 3D
  • BIM / Revit
  • PLS / PLS-CADD
  • RISA-3D
  • MathCAD
  • Hydraulic, hydrologic, pavement, or other civil analysis programs

Preferred Qualifications

• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification
• Prior consulting experience
• Experience working on multidisciplinary facilities or infrastructure programs
