Job description:

We are seeking an experienced Product Owner / Scrum Master for a Data track to drive end to end Agile delivery of data platforms, analytics, and reporting initiatives.

This hybrid role requires strong product ownership, Scrum facilitation, and Business Systems Analysis (BSA) skills to effectively bridge business stakeholders and technical teams.

The ideal candidate will own the data product backlog, facilitate Agile execution, and ensure business requirements are clearly translated into deliverable, high quality data solutions.

Product Ownership (Data Focused)

Own and manage the product backlog for Data & Analytics initiatives including data engineering, reporting, dashboards, and data platforms.

Work closely with business stakeholders to understand business objectives, KPIs, and data needs.

Translate business requirements into clear epics, user stories, and acceptance criteria with a data centric mindset.

Prioritize backlog items based on business value, dependencies, data readiness, and regulatory needs.

Define release goals and support roadmap planning for data products.

Scrum Master & Agile Delivery

Act as Scrum Master for one or more Data / Analytics teams.

Facilitate all Agile ceremonies: Sprint Planning, Daily Stand ups, Backlog Grooming, Sprint Reviews, and Retrospectives.

Coach teams on Agile best practices and drive continuous improvement.

Remove impediments related to data dependencies, environments, access, and cross team coordination.

Track and report Agile metrics such as velocity, burn down, release progress, and team capacity.

Business Systems Analysis (BSA) Responsibilities

Perform requirements elicitation, analysis, and documentation for data use cases. Work with stakeholders to define data rules, transformations, validation logic, and reporting requirements. Support functional walkthroughs, story validation, and UAT planning.

Ensure clarity on data sources, assumptions, dependencies, and acceptance criteria.

Act as a functional bridge between business users and data engineering / BI teams.

Stakeholder & Cross Team Coordination

Serve as the primary point of contact between business, product, data engineering, QA, and leadership teams.

Coordinate across multiple teams and dependencies to ensure smooth delivery.

Provide clear, timely status communication including risks, issues, mitigations, and release readiness. Support governance, planning, and executive communication as required.

Required Qualifications

8-12+ years of experience in IT delivery with strong Agile project experience.

Proven experience as a Product Owner and/or Scrum Master.

Strong exposure to Data & Analytics domains (Data Engineering, BI, Reporting, Dashboards).

Hands on experience in requirements analysis / BSA activities.

Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.

Experience using Agile tools such as JIRA, Confluence, or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working in Enterprise or Regulated environments (Healthcare, Insurance, BFSI).

Experience managing onshore-offshore delivery models.

Certifications

Such as CSM, SAFe Agilist, PMI ACP, or Product Owner certification.

Working knowledge of data platforms, cloud data ecosystems, and BI tools (nice to have).
