Overview
We are seeking an experienced Lead Data Engineer / Data Architect to support the design, migration, and ongoing evolution of a large-scale data and analytics platform. This role plays a critical part in modernizing an enterprise data ecosystem, supporting analytics, reporting, and advanced data use cases. The ideal candidate brings strong hands-on technical expertise along with the ability to lead architecture decisions and support production-critical data systems.
This position requires close collaboration with engineering, analytics, product, and business teams and will be responsible for ensuring data platforms are scalable, reliable, and well-governed.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the technical lead for data engineering and architecture initiatives
- Design, analyze, and optimize SQL-based data layers and analytics solutions
- Perform ad-hoc data analysis, complex SQL queries, and data transformations
- Lead design and evolution of cloud-based data platforms and data warehouses
- Support production deployments, monitoring, troubleshooting, and incident resolution
- Migrate and modernize on-premises data platforms to cloud-native architectures
- Build and manage scalable data pipelines and ingestion frameworks
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align data models with evolving product requirements
- Enable standardized analytics, reporting, and self-service data consumption
- Improve platform reliability, automation, and operational maturity
- Ensure data quality, governance, and compliance with enterprise standards
- Mentor engineers and provide architectural guidance across the data team
- Document system designs, data flows, and operational processes
Required Skills & Experience
- 10+ years of experience in data engineering, analytics, or data platform development
- Strong expertise in SQL and relational database systems
- Hands-on experience with cloud data platforms, preferably Azure
- Experience with Azure Synapse, data lake architectures, and data warehousing concepts
- Strong experience with Python for data engineering and analytics workloads
- Solid understanding of Unix/Linux operating systems
- Experience supporting production data systems and handling operational issues
- Strong understanding of data modeling, performance tuning, and query optimization
Preferred Skills & Experience
- Experience with analytics engines and frameworks such as Spark SQL, Presto, or similar
- Exposure to workflow orchestration tools such as Apache Airflow
- Experience building data products and analytics platforms
- Knowledge of machine learning concepts and data science workflows
- Familiarity with DevOps practices and automation
- Experience with tools such as Power BI or other data visualization platforms
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder-management skills

- Round 2: Interview with product or business stakeholders focusing on solution design and collaboration
- Interviews conducted via video conference
