Job Title: Mental health system  Non-Clinical Case Manager (Wellness Advocate)

Duty Location: Nomadic/mobile presence across various armories and units within NC (No permanent office assignment; requires field deployment to engage personnel)

Position Overview

Wellness Advocates provide vital non-clinical case management, serving as the nomadic field face of the IMHS program. They navigate complex civilian and military healthcare systems to coordinate integrated support systems for members dealing with behavioral health and substance use disorders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Integrated Care Coordination: Manage and integrate non-clinical care elements across complex structures, including the VA, TRICARE networks, subspecialty hospitals, local providers, and internal IMHS resources.
  • Resource Referral & Navigation: Coordinate essential, non-clinical resource referrals to assist members with housing, financial strains, food security, shelters, utility assistance, and mortgage relief.
  • Crisis Identification & Routing: Immediately recognize and refer high-risk, mentally unstable, or suicidal crisis situations directly to licensed clinical staff or emergency response pipelines.
  • Community & Partner Vetting: Attend public and private events to actively vet, engage, and build community partnerships, expanding the database of external resources available to service members.
  • Briefings & Consent Management: Deliver behavioral health and program awareness briefings at Yellow Ribbon and related family readiness events. Manage the administrative execution, collection, and secure handling of client consent forms.
  • Reporting: Document cases systematically and compile monthly Case Management and Critical Cases Reports for submission to the COR.

Job Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a behavioral health science or social work field.
  • Experience (Master''s Degree Holders): Minimum of 3 years of post-graduate experience in a social work setting, including at least 1 year within a military environment.
  • Experience (Bachelor''s Degree Holders): Minimum of 5 years of post-graduate experience in a social work setting, including at least 1 year within a military environment.
  • Special Criteria: Must be comfortable operating without a fixed office space, acting nomadically within armories to break down mental health stigmas through direct face-to-face engagement.
