Job Description:

Apex Systems is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our client in San Antonio, TX. This is a 6 month contract-to-hire position. It will be supporting government/defense contracts. The position does not require a current Clearance, but might require obtaining one in the future. Due to this, we can only consider indivduals who would be eligible for obtaining a security clearance.

Summary:

This role is responsible for designing and developing engineering solutions, creating detailed design specifications and drawings to ASME standards, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful implementation of projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in engineering principles, SolidWorks software proficiency, and the ability to innovate and solve complex problems.

Responsibilities:

• Create detailed design specifications and technical drawings using CAD software.
• Develop and optimize engineering solutions to meet project requirements.
• Conduct feasibility studies and perform technical analysis to support design decisions.
• Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure project goals are met.
• Participate in design reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members.
• Collaborate with the manufacturing team to ensure designs are manufacturable and cost-effective.
• Develop prototypes and conduct testing to validate design concepts.
• Analyze test results and make necessary adjustments to improve design performance.
• Prepare and maintain accurate documentation of design processes, specifications, and changes.
• Create and update technical manuals and user guides as needed.
• Stay current with industry trends, new technologies, and best practices in engineering design.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement changes to enhance efficiency and quality.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or related field).
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a design engineering role.
• Minimum of 1 or more years of experience with SolidWorks software.
• Strong understanding of engineering principles and design methodologies.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Desired:

• Experience with ASME Y14 Standards.
• Experience with AutoCAD software.
• Experience with 3D printing and rapid prototyping.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes and materials.
