Job#: 3031641 Job Description: Apex Systems is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our client in San Antonio, TX. This is a 6 month contract-to-hire position. It will be supporting government/defense contracts. The position does not require a current Clearance, but might require obtaining one in the future. Summary:This role is responsible for designing and developing engineering solutions, creating detailed design specifications and drawings to ASME standards, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful implementation of projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in engineering principles, SolidWorks software proficiency, and the ability to innovate and solve complex problems.
Responsibilities:- Create detailed design specifications and technical drawings using CAD software.
- Develop and optimize engineering solutions to meet project requirements.
- Conduct feasibility studies and perform technical analysis to support design decisions.
- Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure project goals are met.
- Participate in design reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members.
- Collaborate with the manufacturing team to ensure designs are manufacturable and cost-effective.
- Develop prototypes and conduct testing to validate design concepts.
- Analyze test results and make necessary adjustments to improve design performance.
- Prepare and maintain accurate documentation of design processes, specifications, and changes.
- Create and update technical manuals and user guides as needed.
- Stay current with industry trends, new technologies, and best practices in engineering design.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement changes to enhance efficiency and quality.
Required Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or related field).
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a design engineering role.
- Minimum of 1 or more years of experience with SolidWorks software.
- Strong understanding of engineering principles and design methodologies.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Desired:- Experience with ASME Y14 Standards.
- Experience with AutoCAD software.
- Experience with 3D printing and rapid prototyping.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes and materials.
