Production Manager
Production ManagerPosition Overview The Production Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating and overseeing manufacturing operations to ensure products are produced safely, on time, within budget and to quality standards. This role leads production teams, implements continuous improvement initiatives, enforces health and safety and collaborates with engineering, supply chain and quality to meet customer requirements and company objectives.
Key Responsibilities- Plan, schedule and supervise daily production activities to meet output targets and delivery deadlines.
- Manage, coach and develop production staff, including workforce planning, performance reviews and training.
- Ensure production processes meet quality standards and regulatory requirements, coordinating with Quality Assurance to resolve non-conformances.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, 5S, Kaizen) to increase efficiency, reduce waste and lower costs.
- Maintain a safe working environment by enforcing safety policies, conducting risk assessments and ensuring compliance with OSHA and company safety programs.
- Monitor production KPIs (throughput, yield, downtime, OEE) and prepare regular reports for senior management.
- Coordinate with maintenance to minimize equipment downtime and support preventive maintenance programs.
- Control production budgets, manage material usage and work with Procurement to ensure timely availability of components and raw materials.
- Implement and optimize production workflows, work instructions and standard operating procedures.
- Lead root-cause analysis and corrective actions for production issues and participate in new product introductions and process validations.
Qualifications- Bachelors degree in Engineering, Manufacturing Management, Operations, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of progressive experience in manufacturing or production environments, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
- Demonstrated skills in production management, manufacturing operations and team leadership.
- Working knowledge of Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma tools or continuous improvement methodologies.
- Experience with quality systems (ISO, SPC) and regulatory compliance in a manufacturing setting.
- Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems (SAP, Oracle or similar) and production scheduling tools.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical and decision-making skills with a focus on process optimization.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to collaborate across functions and lead change.
- Commitment to workplace safety and experience enforcing safety standards and programs.
- Preferred: certifications such as Six Sigma, PMP or relevant trade qualifications; experience in the companys industry or similar manufacturing sectors.
