Title: Senior Software Engineer
Pay: $70-$90/hr
Duration: 24 month contract
Job SummaryWe are seeking a Senior Software Engineer with a strong backend and data engineering background to help build and scale next-generation, cloud-based data platforms. In this role, you will design, develop, and own components of large-scale systems supporting real-time and batch data processing. You will work closely with cross-functional partners to deliver high-performance, highly available solutions that evolve with business needs. This role emphasizes backend engineering and big data systems, leveraging modern cloud infrastructure and distributed computing technologies. You'll contribute to architectural decisions, apply best engineering practices, and help drive innovation across the full software development lifecycle.
What You'll Do (Day-to-Day Responsibilities)- Design, build, and own components of large-scale data platforms supporting real-time and batch processing workloads.
- Develop next-generation, cloud-based big data infrastructure, continuously improving performance, scalability, reliability, and availability.
- Build and maintain backend services and data pipelines using technologies such as Java, Scala, Python, Spark, Hive, Kafka, and Spring Boot.
- Contribute to best-in-class engineering practices, including clean architecture, design patterns, CI/CD pipelines, code reviews, and automated testing.
- Participate in all phases of the software lifecycle: design, experimentation, implementation, optimization, and testing.
- Collaborate closely with product managers, program managers, SDETs, and researchers in a highly collaborative, innovation-driven environment.
- Drive technical innovation by evaluating and applying state-of-the-art backend, data, and cloud technologies.
- Help shape system architecture for highly available, scalable, and fault-tolerant services operating at scale.
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- 4+ years of professional software development experience using Java, Scala, Python, or similar languages.
- 3+ years of hands-on big data development experience with technologies such as Spark, Hive, Kafka, Singlestore, and AWS big data services.
- Strong understanding of system design, application architecture, and distributed systems.
- Proven experience building highly available, scalable, production-grade services.
- Passion for technology, continuous learning, and working across disciplines.
