Role Overview
A Lab Administrator is responsible for the closure of a high number of trouble tickets. This role involves the installation, configuration, and maintenance of network and computer equipment within a lab environment. The position requires hands-on experience with Unix/Linux and a desire to expand knowledge of networking concepts.
Key Responsibilities
- Installation of network and computer equipment.
- Software re-installation of lab devices.
- Adding new devices to the database system.
- Troubleshooting and replacing of broken hardware.
- Building or changing topologies between devices and documenting the changes.
- Building and deploying Virtual Machines (e.g., using Openstack/Contrail or ESX vCenter).
- Receiving, stocking, and issuing electronic and mechanical equipment.
- Maintaining a controlled area for storage of project materials and accurate inventory records.
- Assisting Lab Admins in setting up testbeds.
- Keeping a safe, clean, and productive lab environment.
Required Qualifications
Education: A technical bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
Experience: A minimum of 3 years of related experience in Software Development or Support.
Technical Skills: Basic UNIX skills, knowledge of TCP/IP terms (CIDR, router, gateway, IP, DNS), and experience with Unix/Linux configuration. Ability to configure and troubleshoot JUNOS based routers and other networking products.
Work Schedule
This is a third shift position, from 10:00 PM to 7:00 AM.
Compensation & Benefits
The pay rate for this position is between $22.00 and $26.00 per hour. The contract duration is 2 years with the possibility of extension.
