Job Description – Lead Business Process Consultant
Location: South Calhoun Street Tallahassee, Florida (Local candidate only)
Duration: 12+ Months
Position Overview
The Lead Business Process Consultant will support the Information System Modernization Program within the Business, Change, and Training workstream. This role is responsible for leading enterprise-wide business process improvement initiatives, managing stakeholder relationships, aligning business and technology solutions, and mentoring Business Process Consultants.
The ideal candidate will possess strong experience in process engineering, organizational change management, business transformation, and IT modernization initiatives within large enterprise environments.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Relationship & Stakeholder Management
- Establish and maintain strategic relationships with external customers and internal business units.
- Serve as the primary liaison between business stakeholders, IT teams, vendors, consultants, and end users.
- Resolve escalated customer and stakeholder issues while ensuring continuous service improvement.
- Participate in contract discussions, vendor performance reviews, and vendor management activities.
Leadership & Process Consulting Oversight
- Lead and mentor Business Process Consultants engaged in process analysis, redesign, and business process engineering.
- Ensure consistent use of methodologies, standards, and best practices across projects.
- Provide guidance on stakeholder engagement, analytical approaches, and process improvement strategies.
- Manage work allocation, priorities, and delivery timelines across multiple projects.
Business & Technology Alignment
- Evaluate and align business processes with enterprise IT modernization initiatives.
- Translate business and customer requirements into actionable functional and technical requirements.
- Collaborate with architecture, development, and operations teams to ensure solutions align with organizational goals.
- Recommend process and technology improvements to enhance operational efficiency and customer experience.
Process Analysis, Design & Optimization
- Lead enterprise process design, modeling, simulation, and optimization activities.
- Conduct gap analyses and define process performance metrics.
- Drive process governance and ensure adoption of standardized business processes across the organization.
- Identify operational bottlenecks and implement continuous improvement strategies.
Organizational Change Management
- Advise leadership on modernization opportunities, process risks, and technology adoption strategies.
- Support organizational change management initiatives related to system implementations and workflow redesigns.
- Facilitate solution design, testing, deployment, and business readiness activities.
- Ensure effective communication, training, and documentation for process and system changes.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with business units and IT teams to clarify requirements and resolve operational challenges.
- Maintain visibility across projects and communicate progress, risks, and dependencies to stakeholders.
- Support training and transition activities to ensure successful adoption of new processes and systems.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field; equivalent work experience may substitute for education.
- Minimum 7+ years of IT experience.
- Minimum 4+ years of experience in process engineering/business process improvement.
- Minimum 2+ years of project management experience.
- Certification in process improvement methodologies such as Lean Six Sigma (Green Belt or Black Belt) or Kaizen.
- Strong experience in business process mapping, gap analysis, and process optimization.
- Hands-on experience with tools such as Microsoft Visio, Lucidchart, Bizagi, ARIS, or BPMN modeling tools.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong leadership, mentoring, and stakeholder management skills.
Mandatory Requirement
- Ability to successfully complete a Level II Background Check.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working within corrections, public sector, or highly regulated environments.
- Knowledge of regulatory standards such as HIPAA and CJIS Security Standards.
- Experience designing compliant business processes aligned with industry regulations.
- Prior experience supporting enterprise modernization or digital transformation programs.
