About the Role

The Assistant Project Manager (APM) is responsible for reviewing construction and architectural documents for new and existing projects and providing technical and project support throughout the architectural workflow.
Responsibilities
  • Develop and prepare layouts and architectural drawings based on client requirements.
  • Coordinate draftsperson deliverables in alignment with project specifications.
  • Use AutoCAD and related tools to create layouts and diagrams with detailed accuracy.
  • Consult technical handbooks, guidelines, and conduct landlord research as needed.
  • Interpret and apply state and local building codes.
  • Prepare documentation for project authorization and manage bidding-related processes.
  • Maintain organized digital and physical project files.
  • Conduct site surveys as required.
  • Collaborate with clients to clarify project needs and architectural requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with architectural guidelines and organizational standards.
  • Provide architectural support to the Project Manager across multiple projects.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture or related field.
  • 2-5 years of experience as an Assistant Project Manager or Job Captain within an architectural firm.
  • Ability to interpret construction data, engineering calculations, and drawings.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD with strong 3D design capabilities; working knowledge of SketchUp, Photoshop, or Illustrator.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Experience drafting retail or commercial construction documents preferred.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong multitasking abilities and high attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
Supervision

This role does not include supervisory responsibilities. The APM will collaborate with team members across various departments.
Work Environment

This position may be 100% remote or hybrid within proximity to the Phoenix or Plano office.
When onsite, the role operates in a professional open-office environment with standard office equipment and routine background noise.
Physical Requirements
  • Regularly required to communicate verbally and through active listening.
  • Primarily sedentary with occasional standing, bending, or reaching.
  • Ability to lift up to 15 lbs.
  • Frequent typing and computer use.
Schedule
  • Full-time, approximately 40+ hours per week.
  • Standard business hours: Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.
  • Flexibility may be required based on business needs.
Travel

Travel expectations are minimal to none.
