JOB DESCRIPTION:

Position Overview : Our client is seeking a Research Systems Engineer to support cloud engineering, system integration, and analysis activities within a federal program. This role focuses on ensuring the stability, scalability, and performance of cloud-based systems and distributed environments. The position supports engineering analysis, system integration, and performance optimization across enterprise cloud infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the stability and sustainability of cloud-based systems and distributed environments
  • Perform system integration, verification, and validation activities
  • Conduct functional analysis, timeline analysis, and engineering trade studies
  • Support requirements allocation and interface definition for hardware and software systems
  • Develop proactive engineering solutions to monitor and manage distributed systems
  • Analyze system performance, functionality, and configuration issues
  • Utilize trends and system metrics to improve performance and reliability
  • Collaborate with engineering and cloud teams to support system optimization and integration
  • Develop technical solutions to engineering challenges across cloud environments

Required Qualifications
  • Active Secret security clearance
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in systems engineering, cloud engineering, or related discipline
  • Experience supporting system integration, validation, and engineering analysis
  • Strong understanding of system performance and troubleshooting

Certifications:
  • DoD 8570 / 8140 compliant certification (IAT Level II required)
  • One or more cloud certifications (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform, or Oracle Cloud) - preferred not required

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience supporting federal or defense programs
  • Familiarity with cloud-based systems and distributed architectures
  • Experience working in high-security or classified environments
  • Experience with system monitoring and performance optimization tools
  • Ability to operate within engineering and research-focused environments
