Metrology Technician | Newaygo, MI

Salary Range: $57,000 - $84,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

We are collaborating with manufacturing firms in Newaygo that are seeking skilled Metrology Technicians. These organizations are dedicated to maintaining high standards and are looking for professionals who can contribute effectively. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform calibration and preventative maintenance on metrology equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair measurement equipment to ensure accuracy and functionality.
  • Develop and implement calibration procedures in accordance with industry standards.
  • Maintain detailed records of calibration data and equipment maintenance history.
  • Conduct Gage R&R studies and other measurement system analysis.
  • Provide technical support and training to manufacturing personnel on proper use of measuring tools.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in Metrology, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment performing dimensional inspection and calibration.
  • Proficient in the use of various metrology equipment (e.g., CMM, optical comparators, calipers, micrometers, height gauges).
  • Strong understanding of GD&T principles and ability to interpret engineering drawings.
  • Experience with calibration software and metrology-specific programming (e.g., PC-DMIS) is a plus.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations, including trigonometry and statistics.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience with automation and robotic metrology systems.
  • ASQ Certified Calibration Technician (CCT) or Certified Quality Technician (CQT).
  • Familiarity with programming CMMs using DMIS or other specialized software.
  • Demonstrated ability to train junior technicians on metrology best practices.
  • Experience with statistical process control (SPC) and data analysis for quality improvement.
