The Opportunity

StaffRight Associates has been retained by a top-tier client to identify a seasoned, forward-thinking artificial intelligence engineering leader for a pivotal direct-hire role based out of the Dunkirk, NY area (hybrid work model). In this high-impact position, you will serve as the core technical authority steering the design, construction, and hardening of next-generation intelligent agent systems. Partnering with StaffRight Associates ensures a streamlined candidate experience as we guide you through joining an innovative team dedicated to advancing cutting-edge software architecture.

What You’ll Do

  • Architect and oversee intelligent agent infrastructure utilizing LangGraph StateGraph, CrewAI, LlamaIndex, and adjacent orchestration software.

  • Construct enterprise-ready backend servers featuring FastAPI, incorporating asynchronous communication endpoints, continuous data streaming, and thorough system health checks.

  • Champion rigorous security frameworks for tool execution, establishing minimum-privilege controls, key management systems, audit tracks, and thorough input verification.

  • Establish robust governance frameworks covering incoming and outgoing payload validation, safety parameters, prompt defenses, and regulatory policy execution.

  • Maximize platform transparency by configuring detailed trace logging, tool usage telemetry, cost and latency tracking, and threshold-driven alerts.

  • Engineer advanced retrieval-augmented generation pathways leveraging vector data platforms like Chroma, Milvus, Weaviate, and Qdrant.

  • Partner with cross-functional engineering, data, security, quality, and product units to fulfill enterprise-level operational criteria.

  • Drive containerization strategies using multi-phase Docker builds, optimized dependency structures, and reliable health check routines.

  • Author clear technical documentation, encompassing architectural records, operational manuals, interface guidelines, and data movement maps.

  • Formulate complete testing protocols covering individual components, system integrations, edge scenarios, and load capabilities to secure high availability.

  • Synthesize evaluation benchmarks, red-team adversarial test suites, and drift tracking protocols to preserve output accuracy and safety.

  • Guide and elevate mid-level and junior developers while serving as the primary technical lead for system troubleshooting.

  • Evaluate continuous operational metrics and system logs to uncover, prioritize, and implement performance optimizations.

What You Bring

  • Demonstrated experience holding a Bachelor''s Degree In Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline paired with 7+ years of progressive development background.

  • Mastery of Python 3.12+, including advanced usage of Type Hints and Async/Await patterns (3+ years).

  • Advanced capability in TypeScript development (3+ years).

  • Practical deployment or advanced testing experience utilizing LangGraph, LangChain, CrewAI, or LlamaIndex.

  • Field-tested proficiency in Docker, multi-stage container deployment, and DevOps methodologies.

  • Deep mastery of AI Agent Frameworks, Orchestration Patterns, and Context Management Strategies.

  • Hands-on experience with Data Analytics, Monitoring Tooling, Observability Tooling, Tracing Systems, and Production Dashboards.

  • Strong grounding in API Design, Error Handling Patterns, and Backend Security Practices.

  • Superior capacity for technical communication, including authoring Architecture Decision Records, System Diagrams, and Operational Runbooks.

  • Demonstrated history of technical leadership, mentoring talent, and promoting organizational Software Engineering Standards.

Compensation & Total Rewards

  • Baseline Salary Range: $153,000 – $170,000 annually.
