This contingent role provides expert-level engineering leadership across complex, large-scale software initiatives. You will consult on high-impact technical challenges, evaluate multi-layered engineering problems, and deliver solutions that require advanced analytical thinking, architectural vision, and deep hands-on expertise. The position involves close collaboration with client stakeholders and cross-functional teams to drive high-quality, secure, and scalable application delivery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead end-to-end design and development of scalable, secure, high-performance applications using Java and Spring Boot.
  • Architect and implement modern UI components using React.js, ensuring exceptional user experience and front-end performance.
  • Build, deploy, and manage microservices on Kubernetes/OpenShift (OCP), including Helm charts, CI/CD pipelines, and automated deployments.
  • Partner with product owners, architects, and cross-functional teams to define technical solutions and execute roadmap priorities.
  • Ensure engineering excellence through code reviews, unit/integration testing, and adherence to development standards.
  • Optimize application performance, troubleshoot production issues, and ensure reliability and high availability.
  • Mentor junior and mid-level engineers, promoting best practices and technical growth.
  • Drive continuous improvement in architecture, automation, tooling, and DevSecOps practices.

Required Skills & Qualifications
  • 8+ years of hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, and microservices architecture.
  • Strong proficiency with React.js, ES6+, and modern front-end tooling (TypeScript optional).
  • Hands-on experience deploying applications to Kubernetes or Red Hat OpenShift (OCP).
  • Strong understanding of cloud-native principles, Docker containers, service mesh, and API gateways.
  • Experience building CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Tekton, or ArgoCD.
  • Deep knowledge of RESTful services, event-driven architecture, and messaging technologies (Kafka, RabbitMQ, etc.).
  • Solid understanding of relational and NoSQL databases.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience guiding engineering teams and influencing architectural decisions.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with OpenShift operators, routes, templates, or S2I.
  • Working knowledge of AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform cloud services.
  • Familiarity with security standards such as OAuth2, JWT, SSO, and SAST/DAST tools.
  • Experience with test automation frameworks (JUnit, Cypress, etc.).
  • Background in Agile/Scrum environments.

Additional Notes
  • Work may span multiple initiatives involving customer screening and background-related applications.
  • Projects vary in duration; engineers may rotate across efforts based on priority.
  • Candidates should demonstrate initiative, strong communication, and the ability to operate without constant direction.
  • Deployments may occur during evenings, weekends, or holidays once or twice per quarter; schedule flexibility is required.
