Metrology Technician | DeWitt, MI

Salary Range: $51,000 - $78,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform calibration, maintenance, and repair of precision measuring equipment.
  • Utilize various metrology tools and software to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Analyze measurement data and generate reports to document calibration results.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with measurement equipment and processes.
  • Develop and maintain calibration procedures in accordance with industry standards.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to improve measurement techniques.
  • Provide technical support and training on metrology principles and equipment.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in Metrology, Quality Assurance, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related technical field.
  • 2-4 years of experience as a Metrology Technician or similar role in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, GD&T, and technical specifications.
  • Demonstrated experience with a wide range of precision measurement tools and equipment (e.g., CMM, optical comparators, calipers, micrometers, height gages).
  • Strong understanding of calibration principles and measurement uncertainty.
  • Ability to operate and program CMMs using common software (e.g., PC-DMIS, Calypso, MCOSMOS).

Bonus Qualifications

  • ASQ Certified Calibration Technician (CCT) certification.
  • Experience with programming and operating Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs).
  • Proficiency in statistical analysis software (e.g., Minitab, JMP) for process control and data analysis.
  • Familiarity with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) principles and application.
  • Prior experience in a lean manufacturing or Six Sigma environment.
