Metrology Technician | Grand Rapids, MI

Salary Range: $48,000 - $75,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

We are partnering with organizations in Grand Rapids that are seeking Metrology Technicians. These companies are committed to building strong teams and are looking for professionals who can lead initiatives effectively. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform calibration and preventative maintenance on metrology equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair measurement equipment and systems.
  • Conduct dimensional inspections of manufactured parts using various measuring tools.
  • Document calibration results and maintain accurate records in calibration management software.
  • Develop and optimize measurement programs for automated inspection systems.
  • Assist in the selection and procurement of new metrology equipment.
  • Provide technical support and training to production personnel on measurement techniques.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in Metrology, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing metrology lab or quality control environment.
  • Proficiency in operating and programming CMMs, optical comparators, and other precision measurement equipment.
  • Strong understanding of GD&T principles and their application in inspecting manufactured parts.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Experience with calibration procedures and maintaining measurement equipment.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience with programming CMMs (Coordinate Measuring Machines).
  • Familiarity with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) advanced concepts and applications.
  • Certification in a relevant metrology discipline (e.g., ASQ Certified Calibration Technician, L.S. Starrett Precision Measuring Instruments Certification).
  • Proficiency in statistical process control (SPC) and data analysis using software like Minitab or JMP.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and 3D CAD models.
