Metrology Technician | Wyoming, MI

Salary Range: $53,000 - $80,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform calibration and verification of measurement tools and equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair malfunctioning metrology instruments.
  • Conduct Gage R&R studies and measurement system analyses.
  • Develop and maintain calibration procedures and documentation.
  • Provide technical support and training on metrology principles and equipment.
  • Participate in the selection and implementation of new metrology equipment.
  • Analyze measurement data and identify trends or potential issues.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and internal quality requirements.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in Metrology, Engineering Technology, or a related technical field.
  • 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment, performing calibration and measurement.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and GD&T specifications.
  • Demonstrated experience with a variety of precision measurement tools (e.g., CMM, calipers, micrometers, optical comparators).
  • Strong understanding of calibration principles, measurement uncertainty, and quality control systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and perform basic maintenance on metrology equipment.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience with programming CMMs using PC-DMIS or Calypso software.
  • Proficiency in statistical process control (SPC) and data analysis.
  • Certified Metrology Technician (CMT) or similar professional certification.
  • Familiarity with GD&T per ASME Y14.5 standards and their application.
  • Experience with calibration and maintenance of metrology equipment.
