Job Title: Systems Operations Engineer 3 - ContingentLocation: Charlotte, NC OR Iselin, NJ (Hybrid, 3 days onsite)Contract Length: 12 months (potential extension or conversion)Pay Rate: $45 - $49Top Requirements:4+ years Systems Engineering or Technology Architecture experience, including production support of enterprise applications.Strong PowerShell scripting for automation and SRE-aligned operational efficiency.Experience supporting Java/Tomcat or similar Java-based application servers.Hands-on database experience (SQL, Oracle, database admin tasks; Liquibase is a plus).Experience working in regulated, compliance-driven environments with strict operational controls.Plusses:Experience with archiving, eDiscovery, or regulated communications platforms.Exposure to SRE practices, automation-first operations, and cloud modernization.ServiceNow experience (incident, change, problem management).Power BI reporting for operational/compliance dashboards.Experience with cloud migration, infrastructure modernization, or hybrid cloud environments.Job Summary:This Systems Operations Engineer role provides production and functional support for the bank's enterprise Archiving & Compliance platform-the system of record for regulated electronic communications. The engineer will support daily operations, regulatory-driven initiatives, and ongoing modernization efforts as the team transitions toward SRE and automation-focused practices.
The role requires strong troubleshooting skills across applications, databases, and infrastructure, along with disciplined operational execution in a highly regulated environment. The engineer will collaborate with compliance, audit, platform engineering, and cloud transformation teams while helping evolve the platform through automation and improved reliability.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:- Provide daily operational support for enterprise archiving and compliance systems.
- Monitor system health, handle incidents, and participate in root cause analysis.
- Perform tasks within incident, change, and problem management frameworks.
- Work with regulatory & audit partners on remediation and compliance initiatives.
- Maintain detailed operational documentation meeting audit and regulatory standards.
- Use PowerShell to automate manual or repetitive tasks, aligning with SRE principles.
- Support Java/Tomcat-based applications through testing, configuration, and troubleshooting.
- Perform database-related tasks: SQL queries, data validation, admin functions.
- Utilize ServiceNow for ticketing, workflow, and operational record keeping.
- Assist with cloud migration and modernization initiatives.
- Work closely with engineering teams to transition operational tasks into automated, scalable solutions.
- Support and enhance reporting workflows; Power BI is a plus.
