Position Summary & Responsibilities:

Position Summary:

This Engineering Technician Associate position is the entry level for the Engineering Technician class series. This position is located in Topeka, at the Eisenhower State Office Building, and is within the Bureau of Right of Way. This Engineering Technician Associate position is responsible for the supervised coordination of activities necessary to prepare all the instruments and documentation used for the appraisal and acquisition of real property. This position, under supervision, assists in the coordination to prepare all the necessary instruments and documentation used for the appraisal and acquisition of land needed.

Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:

• This involves researching and assembling data to identify existing right-of-way, historic and current property owners, and centerline alignment data; preparing documents for archiving in several mediums; maintaining and updating the archive cross-reference register; locating, extracting, and printing data from current and/or historical files.
• This position, under supervision, assists in the preparation of graphic exhibits, plan notations, and labeling of data points. Requires use of CADD and word computer platforms.
• This position uses legal descriptions to compute and place data on right of way plans. The property descriptions must agree with the official plans and any deviation must be brought to the attention of the section coordinator.
• This position, under supervision, assists in the streamlining of data and product work within the section to permit others more effective time on calculations and principal drawings.
• This position, under supervision, assists in the effort to inform right-of-way appraisers and acquisition agents of the property descriptions, plans, and special requirements necessary for the acquisition of right of way for a specific set of highway improvement plans and, under supervision, assists them in coordinating resources for any special right-of-way engineering problems of which they should be aware.
• This position, under supervision, prepares a variety of maps, graphic exhibits, and photo exhibits, and annotates final right of way corrections to the plans.re.
• This position, under supervision, research files for right of way information and aids in monitoring and maintaining the Bureau of Right of Way's microfilm and plan files.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

• Valid Driver's License at time of appointment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in the use of CADD and computer applications.
• Engineering Technician Registration is desirable.
