Description
We are looking for an experienced Software Engineering Manager to lead contract-based software initiatives in New York, New York. This Contract position will oversee development efforts across web applications, APIs, and data-driven solutions, while guiding technical teams toward scalable and reliable delivery. The ideal candidate brings strong hands-on knowledge of JavaScript, PHP, MySQL, and emerging AI technologies, along with the leadership skills to drive execution and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities:
Lead engineering teams in planning, building, and delivering software solutions that support business goals and technical standards.
Direct the design and implementation of web applications, backend services, and API integrations using modern development practices.
Oversee application architecture and database performance, with a focus on maintainability, scalability, and efficient use of MySQL.
Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to define priorities, manage timelines, and ensure successful execution of contract deliverables.
Guide the adoption and deployment of AI-enabled tools and models to improve product capabilities and operational outcomes.
Establish development processes, code quality expectations, and review practices that promote reliable and secure software delivery.
Mentor engineers and technical leads, providing feedback, coaching, and support for strong team performance.
Manage technical changes or platform-related transitions as part of delivery responsibilities when required.
Requirements
7+ years of experience in software engineering, including experience leading technical teams or engineering functions.
Strong proficiency in JavaScript, PHP, API development, and MySQL within production environments.
Experience working with AI platforms, AI model deployment, and AI process modeling in software solutions.
Demonstrated ability to manage software delivery, align engineering work with objectives, and resolve technical challenges.
Solid understanding of application architecture, system integration, and software development best practices.
Effective communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to coordinate across technical and business groups.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
