About the RoleIn this contingent Software Engineering role, you will contribute to the design, development, and delivery of moderately complex backend systems and services. You will analyze engineering challenges, evaluate technical options, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to support large-scale systems and applications. This role requires strong technical expertise, solid communication skills, and the ability to work both independently and within collaborative Agile teams.
What You'll Do- Design & Develop: Build scalable, efficient backend systems using Python and Node.js, including REST APIs, microservices, and server-side applications.
- System Integration: Integrate databases, APIs, and third-party services into existing application architectures.
- Code Quality: Write clean, maintainable, well-documented code following industry best practices.
- Performance Optimization: Diagnose and resolve performance bottlenecks to ensure speed, scalability, and reliability.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with frontend, DevOps, and product teams to enable seamless integration and deployment.
- Mentorship: Provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers and team members.
- Problem Solving: Analyze complex issues and develop innovative engineering solutions.
- Continuous Improvement: Recommend and adopt modern frameworks, tooling, and engineering best practices.
- Testing & Debugging: Build and maintain unit and integration test suites to ensure system stability.
- Documentation: Produce and maintain high-quality technical documentation, including designs, specifications, and user guides.
Minimum Qualifications- 4+ years of professional software engineering experience (or equivalent training, military, education, or consulting background).
- 4+ years of hands-on development experience with Python and Node.js.
- 5+ years strong proficiency in Python frameworks (Django, Flask) and Node.js, with working knowledge of JavaScript/TypeScript.
- Back-End Expertise: Experience building RESTful APIs, microservices, and server-side applications.
- Database Skills: Expertise with relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL systems (MongoDB, Redis).
- Cloud Experience: Hands-on experience with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud; familiarity with DevOps practices.
- Version Control: Strong Git proficiency and experience using modern version control workflows.
- Agile Experience: Background working in Agile/Scrum environments.
- Soft Skills: Strong analytical, problem-solving, verbal, and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications- Basic understanding of frontend frameworks (React, Angular, Vue.js).
- Experience designing or managing CI/CD pipelines.
- Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes for containerization and orchestration.
- Experience with testing frameworks such as Jest, Mocha, PyTest, or similar.
- Financial industry experience is a plus.
