The Data Center Technician L2 is a hands-on role supporting the build-out and ongoing operation of a new, enterprise-scale data center environment.
This position provides a strong foundation in data center operations, beginning with participation in a greenfield (white space) deployment phase, where you will assist with infrastructure installation, cabling, and system bring-up. As the site transitions into steady-state operations, you will continue to support day-to-day activities, ensuring the reliability and performance of critical infrastructure.
You will work closely with senior technicians, engineers, and site leadership to execute operational tasks, respond to incidents, and maintain high standards of quality and safety. This role is ideal for technicians who are looking to grow their technical skillset while contributing to a high-performance, production environment.
You will collaborate with globally distributed teams, making strong English communication skills (written and verbal) essential for success in this role.
This role offers continuity across both deployment and operational phases, providing valuable experience and a clear path for technical growth within a critical infrastructure program.
Key Responsibilities- Support rack & stack, hardware installation, and structured cabling during build phase
- Assist with system provisioning, validation, and basic configuration tasks
- Perform Layer 1 troubleshooting and assist with Layer 2/3 diagnostics as needed
- Monitor and respond to hardware and infrastructure issues through ticketing systems
- Maintain accurate asset tracking and inventory records using DCIM/ITSM tools
- Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), safety, and security protocols
- Participate in change management processes, including maintenance and production activities
- Assist in the transition from build phase to steady-state operations
- Collaborate with team members to ensure timely and high-quality task execution
- Participate in on-call rotation supporting 24x7 operations
Required Skills- Professional fluency in English (written and verbal) is required for communication and coordination with global teams
- Hands-on experience with data center hardware installation and cabling
- Basic understanding of networking concepts and hardware (switches, routers, cabling)
- Familiarity with network device CLI (Cisco, Arista, Juniper, Dell)
- Experience working within structured operational processes (SOPs, ticketing systems)
- Familiarity with ITSM/DCIM tools (ServiceNow, Jira, or similar)
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to follow technical documentation and instructions accurately
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to multitask and adapt in a fast-paced environment
- Willingness to learn new technologies, systems, and processes
Physical & Operational Requirements:- Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs
- Comfortable working on feet for extended periods
- Ability to respond to on-call incidents within defined timelines
- Reliable transportation to work location(s)
- Ability to operate material handling equipment (certification preferred)
Required Experience- 2-3 years of experience in data center operations or similar technical environments
- Experience with rack & stack and structured cabling
- Experience provisioning or re-provisioning systems (USB, PXE, or network-based methods)
- Basic experience configuring network devices (IP assignment, initial setup)
- Familiarity with Linux operating systems (preferred)
- Working knowledge of server hardware (Dell, HPE, Supermicro, or similar)
- Understanding of networking fundamentals (DNS, DHCP, Layer 2/3 concepts)
- Experience working with ticketing systems (Jira preferred)
- Basic understanding of data center best practices (redundancy, cabling, power awareness)
- Exposure to electrical, HVAC, and infrastructure systems (preferred)
Preferred Certifications:- CompTIA Server+, Network+, or equivalent
- ITIL Foundation
- CCNA or similar entry-level networking certification
