Description LOOKER ADMINISTRATOR (SME)Hybrid in Philadelphia, PA OR Denver, COContract through 12/31/26 with potential extensionsSenior level Looker Administrator with deep, hands-on expertise in a self-hosted Looker environment to support an Enterprise Analytics environment. This individual would serve as the in-house Looker expert who can hit the group running, mentor the team, and transfer knowledge. They will lead platform upgrades, support cloud infrastructure modernization, ensure successful data platform migrations, and provide knowledge transfer to internal teams.
Responsibilities:
- Administer and support enterprise Looker environments across development and production
- Lead Looker upgrades, patching activities, and version management initiatives
- Modernize and maintain AWS EC2 infrastructure supporting the Looker platform
- Manage LookML development workflows, GitHub repositories, and deployment processes
- Troubleshoot platform, performance, data modeling, connectivity, and user access issues
- Manage user provisioning, account administration, governance controls, and entitlement management
- Support identity and access management processes within the BI environment
- Evaluate and implement platform performance enhancements, including caching improvements
- Support data migration initiatives and validate integration stability across analytical platforms
- Leverage Looker APIs to support advanced analytics and emerging AI-driven initiatives
- Develop technical documentation, runbooks, and operational procedures
- Mentor team members and provide knowledge transfer on Looker administration and best practices
- Collaborate with analytics, engineering, and platform teams to support ongoing operational needs
Requirements - 3-4+ years of deep hands-on Looker administration experience
- Expert-level experience supporting self-hosted Looker environments
- Strong AWS experience, including EC2 administration and environment management
- Advanced LookML experience
- Experience managing GitHub-based development and deployment workflows
- Experience supporting enterprise-scale business intelligence platforms
- Proven ability to independently lead platform upgrades, migrations, and modernization efforts
- Strong troubleshooting skills across platform operations, performance, and user administration
- Ability to serve as a technical subject matter expert and provide team mentorship
- SQL proficiency
Preferred Qualifications:- Experience with Snowflake and Teradata - valuable, but not required.
- Experience working with Looker APIs
- Azure AD or IAM experience
- Exposure to AI and advanced analytics use cases
