Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Java Developer to join our team as an Application Programmer III. The role will provide technical direction and oversight as the team delivers scalable technology solutions. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in Core Java, Spring ecosystem, and distributed systems, and an ability to align technical solutions to business objectives while ensuring code quality and standards compliance.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and contribute to the design, implementation, and maintenance of complex Java applications.


• Provide technical oversight to ensure adherence to software development standards and best practices.


• Develop and enhance RESTful services and microservices using Spring Boot.


• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align solutions with business objectives and performance goals.


• Implement unit tests and participate in code reviews to maintain code quality and reliability.


• Troubleshoot production issues and apply monitoring and performance tuning practices.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Primary skill: Core Java with 5+ years of hands-on development experience.


• Experience building high-volume, distributed Java/J2EE applications.


• Strong with Spring ecosystem: Spring Boot, Spring Security, Spring Integration, Spring MVC, Spring Data JPA.


• Experience creating RESTful services and understanding of SOAP, REST, and JSON standards.


• Working knowledge of front-end technologies such as Handlebars, Foundation, and ReactJS.


• Experience with XML and JSON binding libraries such as JAXB, Jackson, or Gson.


• Unit testing with JUnit and participation in code quality practices.


• Proficiency with Git, Maven, Nexus, and an IDE such as Eclipse or equivalent. Experience with Bitbucket and Git branching and merge strategies.


• Experience with monitoring toolsets such as Splunk and Dynatrace.


• Familiarity with messaging platforms such as IBM WebSphere MQ or ActiveMQ.


• Performance tuning experience with understanding of JVM internals.


• Experience with Groovy and solid object-oriented programming concepts and design patterns.

Preferred Skills:

• Deep knowledge of Spring Boot, microservices, REST APIs, and JVM-based tooling.


• Proficiency with build tools such as Maven and/or Gradle.


• Practical experience with GitHub Copilot for code generation, refactoring, unit test creation, dependency upgrades, and build or vulnerability remediation.

• Approved location: Newark, DE. Hybrid requirement of at least 3 days onsite per week. Onsite from day 1.
