Job DescriptionThe FileNet Java Developer is responsible for designing and implementing custom migration and integration solutions to support the consolidation of FileNet environments. This role focuses on migrating content, metadata, workflows, audit history, and system integrations while maintaining data integrity, compliance, and alignment with organizational standards.
Key ResponsibilitiesContent & Metadata Migration- Identify all relevant data objects, including documents, metadata, workflows, and lifecycle components associated with migration or integration efforts.
- Map source data structures to target FileNet schemas (document classes, properties, metadata) using custom Java development.
- Address data transformation requirements across metadata formats, document types, and folder structures, including normalization and enrichment.
- Migrate and properly handle versioned documents to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Preserve document lifecycle states (e.g., draft, approved, archived) throughout the migration process.
- Ensure retention policies and classifications are consistently maintained across systems.
Audit, Compliance & Data Integrity- Migrate audit data and create or update database tables to maintain audit trails, version history, and security classifications.
- Validate data integrity, completeness, and accuracy within target object stores.
- Develop and execute re-indexing jobs in alignment with organizational standards.
- Establish reconciliation processes to track, validate, and report on migrated content.
Workflow & Process Engine Migration- Recreate or migrate workflows from the FileNet Process Engine (PE).
- Ensure workflow steps, participants, routing logic, and triggers operate correctly after migration.
- Validate workflow execution, exception handling, and overall process functionality.
Integration & Custom Development- Review, enhance, and develop custom code to support migration activities, reporting, and data extraction.
- Re-establish or reconfigure existing integrations to support current or redesigned business processes.
- Provide integration support and API development for upstream and downstream systems.
Testing & Operational Readiness- Conduct test migrations using representative sample data.
- Develop and document rollback and recovery procedures for partial or unsuccessful migrations.
- Support defect resolution during testing and post-deployment phases.
Additional Technical Responsibilities- Full lifecycle application development.
- Design, code, and debug applications in various programming languages.
- Perform software analysis, code analysis, requirements analysis, and software reviews.
- Identify code metrics and conduct system risk and reliability analysis.
- Apply Object-Oriented Analysis and Design (OOA/OOD) principles.
- Perform software modeling and simulation.
- Develop front-end graphical user interfaces.
- Conduct software testing and quality assurance activities.
- Optimize performance, usability, automation, and system balancing.
- Support, maintain, and document software functionality.
- Integrate software with existing systems.
- Evaluate and recommend new technologies for implementation.
- Ensure compliance with established standards.
- Implement software localization or globalization as needed.
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in computer engineering, computer science, information technology, or a related field.
