About the RoleThe Business Systems Analyst will support the consolidation of FileNet, CMOD, and other enterprise content management platforms. This role works closely with business units, technical teams, and migration workstreams to define the target-state content architecture and ensure a smooth, compliant migration of documents, metadata, workflows, and security models into the target FileNet environment.
The ideal candidate brings deep experience in enterprise content management, strong analytical capabilities, and the ability to translate complex business needs into clear, actionable technical requirements. This role requires effective communication skills and the ability to lead discussions and project meetings.
Key ResponsibilitiesCurrent-State & Target-State Analysis- Serve as a subject matter expert on how business areas use FileNet for document storage, retrieval, and workflow automation.
- Analyze document classes, metadata models, workflows, and security structures across multiple organizations or systems.
- Partner with business stakeholders to determine how document types and metadata map into the target FileNet environment.
- Identify inefficiencies, manual processes, redundancies, and compliance or risk concerns in current-state platforms.
Business Alignment & Decision Support- Work with business leaders to gather requirements, regulatory obligations, and retention policies.
- Facilitate decisions related to document ownership, classification, and access rights.
- Define business rules for document disposition, consolidation, archival, and lifecycle management.
- Recommend migration strategies such as lift-and-shift, redesign, consolidation, or retirement.
Requirements & Implementation Support- Translate business requirements into functional specifications for FileNet developers and system administrators.
- Ensure workflows accurately reflect business rules, exception handling, approval paths, and audit requirements.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to implement or revise workflows, metadata structures, and security configurations.
- Validate that technical solutions meet business, legal, compliance, and audit expectations.
Migration & Change Enablement- Support migration activities by validating mappings, testing migrated content, and resolving issues with stakeholders.
- Assess which workflows should migrate as-is, be consolidated, or be redesigned.
- Document decisions, updated processes, and target-state designs.
- Assist with user training and change management related to new folder structures, workflows, and access models.
Continuous Improvement- Analyze post-migration usage patterns and stakeholder feedback to identify improvement opportunities.
- Recommend enhancements, automation, or workflow optimizations to reduce manual effort and improve efficiency.
QualificationsRequired- Experience working with enterprise content management platforms such as FileNet, CMOD, OnBase, or similar.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, particularly in complex, cross-functional environments.
- Ability to translate business needs into clear technical requirements.
- Experience supporting large-scale migrations, system integrations, or platform consolidations.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred- Experience with FileNet P8, workflow automation, metadata modeling, and document taxonomy.
- Background in regulated industries such as financial services, insurance, or healthcare.
- Familiarity with data governance, retention policies, and regulatory document management requirements.
- Experience with system integrations or consolidations related to mergers and acquisitions.
