Role: Data Architect

Duration: Long-Term Contract

Location: Hybrid - 4 days/week onsite in SE Michigan

Job Description:

Employees in this role are responsible for translating business capability needs into solution concepts, architectural models, and functional/technical requirements. This includes designing architecture strategies, establishing technology patterns, defining service structures, and providing governance across architecture and information management.

The role plays a critical part in ensuring enterprise capability integration, aligning information and process flows, and defining implementation strategies and technologies. It supports decisions at the enterprise, portfolio, program, and project levels.

Key Responsibilities

Architecture & Strategy

• Translate desired business capabilities into clearly defined solution concepts, models, and requirements (functional and technical).
• Design strategies, technology patterns, reference architectures, and service structures that guide solution delivery.
• Provide architecture and information management guidance through established governance processes.

Enterprise Integration & Modeling

• Drive enterprise capability integration by identifying, describing, and evaluating integration opportunities.
• Recommend implementation strategies and define required technology mechanisms.
• Compile and align architectural models of current and future-state capabilities to support:
  • Strategy and investment decisions
  • Portfolio, program, and project management
  • Solution and service design
  • Technology and infrastructure planning

Information Management & Standards

• Promote and drive information integration, information standards, and strong information management practices.
• Deliver architecture artifacts across business, information, data, process, solution, application, service, technology, and infrastructure domains.

Project & Delivery Support

• Provide architectural direction to project teams by translating business needs into actionable objectives and deliverables.
• Visualize and communicate architectural concepts, principles, and models to stakeholders across programs, initiatives, and domains.
• Facilitate architecture discussions with cross-functional business partners, sponsors, and product owners.

Governance & Alignment

• Participate in business and IT governance processes as a member or facilitator.
• Ensure architecture standards and related IT projects remain aligned with strategic plans.
• Develop recommendations to improve the business value and impact of IT programs.
• Set direction and approve future-state architecture standards, guidelines, blueprints, and roadmaps.
• Lead architecture-related research and prototypes to refine standards, tools, methodologies, and processes.
• Facilitate architecture governance and ensure adherence to architectural standards.
• Build stakeholder buy-in for architecture frameworks across business and IT leadership.
• Champion the value of architecture and architecture management across the organization.

• 10+ years of IT experience
