Job Summary

We are seeking a Project Management Consultant with experience in utility-scale renewable energy and battery energy storage systems (BESS) to support large-scale energy storage projects from design through execution. This role will focus on engineering coordination, technical oversight, equipment integration, and project delivery support across multidisciplinary teams.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in energy storage technologies, electrical systems, and project management, with the ability to work across engineering, procurement, construction, and operations teams to maximize project performance and reliability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the design and engineering of utility-scale energy storage projects.
  • Review engineering drawings and identify design inconsistencies or improvement opportunities.
  • Coordinate with project managers to support projects from initiation through completion.
  • Prepare technical scopes of work for vendors and contractors.
  • Manage engineering deliverables, milestones, and project risks.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to integrate major equipment into project designs.
  • Analyze technical data and perform technical due diligence for project decisions.
  • Support equipment selection including battery systems, power conversion systems, and substations.
  • Work with internal teams to improve system performance, safety, and reliability.
  • Ensure compliance with permitting requirements and applicable regulations.
  • Communicate technical issues and recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Travel up to 25% as needed for project support.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field from an ABET-accredited program
  • 5+ years of engineering or project management experience
  • Experience in renewable energy, utility-scale storage, or power systems projects
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)
    • Power electronics
    • Substation design
    • Generation tie design
  • Construction methods and safety standards
  • Strong project coordination and communication skills
  • Ability to identify technical risks and implement solutions

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Lithium-ion battery safety standards including UL1973, UL9540, UL9540A, NFPA 855, NEC
  • Familiarity with WECC, CAISO, and interconnection studies
  • Experience with construction permitting and contracting
  • Knowledge of battery chemistries, converters, and system controls
  • SME-level expertise in utility-scale storage system design
