Job Description:
Role: Sr Technical Program Manager
Contract: 6-months (high likelihood of extension)
Location: Austin, TX | Seattle, WA | Herndon, VA
This Senior Technical Program Manager (Sr. TPM) contractor will support the development of the next generation of In-Row Heat Exchangers (IRHx) for air-to-liquid cooling in data center environments.
The Sr. TPM will serve as a bridge between internal engineering teams and external customers, driving program execution while ensuring clear and professional communication at all stages of the product lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Management
Lead end-to-end program planning, scheduling, and execution for the next-gen IRHx development program.
Maintain and manage program roadmaps, milestone tracking, risk registers, and status dashboards.
Coordinate cross-functional teams including Mechanical Engineering, Thermal Systems, Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain.
Facilitate design reviews, program reviews, and gate decisions with internal stakeholders and customers.
Identify, escalate, and drive resolution of program risks and issues.
Customer Engagement
Serve as the primary point of contact for designated customer accounts during program execution.
Lead customer-facing technical meetings, working sessions, and executive reviews.
Translate customer requirements into actionable program specifications and engineering deliverables.
Develop and maintain customer-facing documentation including program status reports, technical briefs, and milestone updates.
Manage customer expectations through proactive communication and timely issue resolution.
Technical Coordination
Review and comprehend engineering designs, thermal performance data, and test results related to air-to-liquid cooling systems.
Ensure technical deliverables align with customer specifications and industry standards for data center cooling infrastructure.
Support requirements traceability from customer needs through design, validation, and delivery.
Coordinate qualification and acceptance testing activities in collaboration with engineering and quality teams.
Documentation & Reporting
Author and maintain high-quality program documentation: SOWs, project plans, technical summaries, meeting minutes, and decision logs.
Prepare executive-level program reports and customer-facing presentations.
Ensure documentation is consistent, accurate, and appropriate for both technical and non-technical audiences.
Key Deliverables:
Program Schedule
Integrated program timeline with milestones, dependencies, and owners.
Customer Status Reports
Recurring written updates tailored to customer stakeholders (biweekly or as agreed).
Risk & Issue Log
Living register of program risks, mitigations, and open issues.
Technical Meeting Packages
Agendas, presentations, and minutes for customer-facing technical reviews.
Requirements Traceability Matrix
Mapping of customer requirements to engineering deliverables and test evidence.
Program Closure Report
Summary of program outcomes, lessons learned, and final customer sign-off documentation.
Qualifications:
Required:
Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
7+ years of experience in technical program or project management, preferably in hardware, thermal systems, or data center infrastructure.
Proven experience managing customer-facing programs in an engineering or product development environment.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; ability to produce clear, concise documentation for both technical and executive audiences.
Strong proficiency with program management tools (e.g., MS Project, Jira, Smartsheet) and presentation software.
Demonstrated ability to manage complex, multi-disciplinary programs with competing priorities.
Preferred:
Direct experience with data center cooling technologies, including air-to-liquid or liquid cooling systems.
Familiarity with thermal management concepts such as heat exchangers, CRAC/CRAH units, or liquid cooling.
PMP, PgMP, or equivalent program management certification.
Experience working with hyperscale or colocation data center customers.
